“Blue Dog” Democrats – really centrists who just ran under the Democratic banner, who were threatening to join the Republican filibuster of the bill unless they got concessions. Then they voted against the bill anyway.

When I was working and had employer sponsored health care (pre ACA) rates went up every year to the point that in the last 5 years of my employment, we had 5 different insurance companies. Rates were going up every year before ACA so to blame this solely on ACA is ridiculous.

Main point to remember: most people using the ACA exchanges would not have insurance at all if not for the ACA. People with good private or employer-based plans are not harmed by this. Nobody is losing anything they would have had without the ACA.

We need a public option and better cost controls, but of course we won’t have any improvements until and unless we elect a Democratic Congress. Until then we have to muddle through and recognize that we are still far better off with the ACA than without it.

Dems need to win both branches of Congress, because it’s fixable if there’s a will to do so. Republicans obviously don’t care.

No legislation is perfect as initially written. Not Medicare, or Medicaid, or Social Security. But responsible people came together to tweak those programs to make them work.

And HOTOG’s solution is the health saving account. You know, the one where you save out of your already stretched budget for years and years, then have the whole thing wiped out by one middling level health event.

Could it have anything to do with the 50 attempts to overturn it when the time could have been better spent actually fixing it?

Gotta hand it to the Democrats on this one. They really don’t seem to understand the difference between access to health insurance, and access to health care.

Apparently the idiot right can’t stop lying about anything.
Employer sponsored plans always went up as did the deductibles.
The ACA had little to no effect of those of us with employer paid plans except - no lifetime caps, mandatory coverage of basics and no more pre-existing nonsense.
Premiums go up.
They have never gone down nor have they ever stayed the same.
Purge the conservatives so we can implement HEALTH CARE FOR ALL AMERICANS.
Insurance isn’t health care. It’s insurance.

I was heartsick when I saw the public option removed by scum that would NEVER vote for the legislation. The only thing I hold against Obama is his kid glove treatment of that vile scum Joe Lieberman. I will be happy the day Lieberman dies.

I don’t wish death on anyone, but I won’t shed a tear for that corporate shill.

time and iour tax money fify

I seem to recall that the ACA allows public options offered by states. Perhaps a national movement to get states to start offering them might not be a bad idea.

Why do these articles not mention the GOP stopped funding “Risk Corridors” which ACA uses to adjust Insurer’s costs to balance risk? If the funding was still there then the Insurers would stay in the market. The Insurrance co-ops that have failed is also due to 90 percent of owed risk payments not being made. Again almost all articles do not mention the GOP is causing this crisis.

What’s ‘ridiculous’ is you.

The ACA is a complete fucking disaster, about to implode. A terrible piece of legislation held together by 1,000 yards of duct tape. This is the Obama legacy. It has come to the point, which I have repeatedly stated from the beginning, where it has fulfilled its own results, accessible but unaffordable.

What America “Needs” is for her people to pull their heads out of their backsides, stand up and demand as a people that they get what America ought to have had in the first place.
National Health Insurance.
Now I can already hear the orchestra of scorched cats tuning up for this one. So as a sort of preemptive strike against all of the halfwits who will try to bludgeon me with the problems in the UK and other places, let me state just one bullet proof fact:
No Major Nation that has National Health Insurance has ever scrapped the system and gone back to anything like the “American Model” of a “heath care” system which makes so many Americans suffer, and causes many of them to die.
But the only way America will ever have National Health Insurance, like so many other things that they so pine for is to get up on their hind legs and demand it. If their Congress does not give it to them, they toss that Congress out, and get another one, until, at last, they get one with enough political brains to realize that to keep their jobs and stay in power, they had better give people what it is that they know they want.
Now, the flaw in all of the above is that I no longer believe that you can get the American Sheeple up on their hind legs, even if you held fast food above their heads.
So the whole thing is a nice pipe dream, and meanwhile, all of these greedy miserable SOB’s that jack up these premiums will just keep right on making money–and eating mutton while they laugh, all the way to the bank… While the people who can’t afford the premiums will fall silent. As silent as the grave.
