Nothing is going to stop domestic terrorism but your beloved president will not take the fight to the opposition. He will not confront them directly. He gives PP the cursory nod just like he gives American labor - I’ll cheer you on from ringside but will not get in the ring.
And just what do you think that will solve? If he were to come out and call them terrorist. it would create a firestorm that will do nothing but help the republicans because they would dominate the message. Have you forgotten they control talk radio and most of the media. They will again say see, he won’t do anything about ISIS but he’s calling americans who are against abortions terrorists. Perhaps in a utopian world where the MSM actually told the truth and weren’t interested in covering politics of destruction, but until that time, his calling out the folks will do nothing. What about the democratic party, i.e. senate dems and congresscritrers - they are the ones who should have his back and do the heavy lifting, but they never do. The President cannot do it - especially not a president who is not even considered legitimate by 47% of this country. You live in a dream world.
Seriously? Ted Cruz proudly accepted the endorsement of Troy Newman, the founder of the Operation Rescue and one of the people behind the famous heavily edited PP videos, A man whose anti-abortion extremism is so severe that he was [barred from Australia][2].
Doubtful. Asking Republicans to censor themselves for fear some madman will fixate on their words is probably not the best strategy. *If some environmental activist blew up a oil pipeline would Republicans blame Democratic rhetoric on climate change?
I think applying social pressure is the best way to get them to tone down their extreme rhetoric. That’s why I mentioned the Protocols of Zion.
I wish someone would ask Ted Cruz is he truly believes Planned Parenthood is “murdering millions of babies” then why doesn’t he grab a gun and do something about it himself.
Excuse #1. “Have you forgotten they control talk radio and most of the media.”
Excuse #2. “but until that time, his calling out the folks will do nothing”
Excuse #3. “What about the democratic party, i.e. senate dems and congresscritrers - they are the ones who should have his back and do the heavy lifting, but they never do.”
Excuse # 4. “The President cannot do it - especially not a president who is not even considered legitimate by 47% of this country.”
Non-Christian Nate Hentoff declared that he was anti-abortion because, as an atheist, he believed that a life in this world is all we get.
I’m with President Obama on this. Ad hominem attacks and other arguing fallacys blind enough supporters of all sides of this problem to make reasonable compromises (the essence of politics) almost impossible. It is yet another example of Americans’ generally malignant public discourse that condemning these latest killings (this time at a PP facility) is controversial rather than universal.
