Discussion for article #235471

And the count down begins to another in the plethora of scandals that are no longer shocking to anyone any more so we probably won’t even notice even if this one is problematic.

… major news organizations including The Times, The Washington Post and Fox News have exclusive agreements with the author to pursue the story lines found in the book

How can a ‘story line’ be exclusive to anyone? Once it’s out in the ether, it can be pursued or disproved by anyone, right?

As well as spate, deluge, glut and overkill.

Brendan James, boy reporter, could have included this paragraph including the phrase “neutral journalist” from the Times article but evidently chose not to because then we wouldn’t have clicked on his story .

But whether Mr. Schweizer’s book can deliver the same sales is not clear. He writes mainly in the voice of a neutral journalist and meticulously documents his sources, including tax records and government documents, while leaving little doubt about his view of the Clintons.

His reporting largely focuses on payments made to Mr. Clinton for speeches, which increased while his wife served as secretary of state, writing that “of the 13 Clinton speeches that fetched $500,000 or more, only two occurred during the years his wife was not secretary of state.”

And yet, conservatives–many of whom haven’t read a newspaper in years and would be sorely challenged to get thru anything longer and more sophisticated than a USA Today front pager if they did–will continue to whine about the NY Times “liberal bias,” ignoring this bizarre deal and the fact that the Times broke the story on HRC’s private email server while their own media (fox and others) were focused on whether the First Lady should have worn a scarf to a funeral…

His cooperation would make a big difference, assuming there’s anything there worth pursuing. But I do hate to see once-legitimate news outlets paying for this kind of thing. Very disappointing. There seem to be very few lines people won’t cross any more.

Who cares…unless something pops up that Clinton ate babies and used puppies for skeet practice nothing can be written or spoken that will change minds…Love her or hate her, she’s been around so long that all opinions are already etched in stone so there wont be anything like one might see if she were a newcomer.

Who are they assigning to the story about the millions (no hyperbole) of taxpayer dollars the GOP has spent over the last two decades trying to find dirt on Mrs. Clinton and her family?

So, the hunting of the Clintons resumes. And The Times pretends to be legitimate journalists.

No, they are going old-school and dredging the bottom of the pond for the faux scandals the Times helped peddle in the 90s. The NYT lowered themselves to National Inquirer levels back then, and they seem to have some sort of pathology against the Clintons still.

Very weird.

This tells you about the lack of substance involved.

This is the paper that gave us Jeff Gerth’s ridiculous Whitewater stories that started that whole pile of nonsense, and the paper that continues to publish Maureen Dowd. The disdain this supposedly liberal newspaper feels for the Clintons cant be underestimated.

Don’t forget Judith Miller, who helped catapult the fraudulent casus belli propaganda to invade Iraq.
