Sorry, Mr. Sulzberger, you’re right but Donny don’t care. It’s all about what Donny thinks is good for Donny, and he’ll blame it on the press themselves when someone (else) gets hurt.
I think that is the §resident’s intent. You do not continually use a phrase like “Enemy of the people” and are simply expecting firm rebuttals. Which I figure is the Putin Plan anyway. More discord, civil insurrection and making the USA look like any other grubby third world country.
Trump’s response:
“Huh?”
Putin’s response:
“It worked!”
America’s response:
“ZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz…”
Mr. Sulzberger’s statement was clear, articulate and compelling. All of which of course meant absolutely nothing to the Dotard, whose word-salad tweet is as incoherent as anything he’s ever said.
Trump’s treatment of reporters during his campaign tells us all we need to know about his overt disdain for a free press. Fascists are like that.
We can only imagine what PuPPet with his few existing brain cells might think about the WaPo’s motto which is on its masthead: Democracy Dies In Darkness. Talking to you, donnie.
Funny how that showed up on WaPo’s masthead just shortly after Trump won. Pure coincidence, I’m sure.
Did he also say “Trump” repeatedly, to keep Dotard sorta focused?
L
it is the responsibility of the NYT report the news, not have a secret meeting to discuss the tone of the coverage.
And Trump said, “Good.”
The odds that he wrote a tweet with the word “morphed” in it, are not measurable.
So Trump puts it right back into Sulzberger’s face. Good. Now he knows first hand it doesn’t pay to be the Neville Chamberlin of the press corps.
That’s telling him, Sulzy. And if that doesn’t work, no more puff pieces from Maggie and Mike. You’ve got him where you want him, champ.
Fer cryin’ out loud, Trump is using you, Sulzberger. Ain’t you got no sense?
GOP’s response
“ZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz…”
Democrats’ response
“Treason”
FIFY
I’m sure he delivered it sternly.
Works for my dog. Say “Ricky” often and he focuses on us.
To: jtx : Yes. Let’s attack the NY Times which has been consistently on the job of exposing con man Trump since he came down that escalator. Presidents have long asked for off the record meetings with reporters and publishers. I don’t think - especially in this case - it will deter the Times from doing its job.
Having a cheeseburger in your hands works, too.
