“Mr. Kushner’s work that he has done will not be impacted and he’s going to continue to do the work that he’s done over the last year."
Translation: He hasn’t done one useful thing all year, so losing his clearance wouldn’t make any difference.
Kushner also feels personally targeted by Kelly’s memo, officials told the Times. However, others familiar with Kushner’s thinking denied to the New York Times that he feels singled out by Kelly or that he has resisted Kelly’s efforts.
Well, maybe if you could tell the truth for once in your pathetic, privileged, grifter life and make a full disclosure of your shady business dealings and ever-expanding list of Russian contacts you wouldn’t be having this problem. Then again, perhaps if you did you would never have a chance in hell of getting a real security clearance anyway, “Mr. Back Channel Communications to Russia Using Russian Comms Proposal.”
My modest proposal is that you slink back to NYC and hang out in one of your soon-to-be-bankrupt highrises and patiently await some other federal documentation, namely a Mueller indictment.
“Mr. Kushner’s work that he has done will not be impacted and he’s going to continue to do the work that he’s done over the last year,”
Of course his work won’t be impacted. His work basically consists of wandering around muttering “let’s think outside the box, people” to the real government workers. Don’t need security clearance to accomplish that.
Seriously, if you take away his security clearance how’s he going to pay his debts?
It’s a real betrayal of the small-business owner, the back-bone of the economy.
I just got a vision of Kushner skulking inside the White House peeking out the window and seeing a couple of Russian leg-breakers waiting outside for him. I’d say the security clearance is his guarantee of good health.
not like state secrets are going to steal themselves, amiright?
Obviously Jared can’t get a clearance. His presence in the West Wing makes him a danger to America’s security so Trump will create a special exemption for family crooks and spys,
Can anyone point to anything that Kushner has done other than draw a salary? I guess he spends most of his time reviewing his portfolio.
I’d say he spends a lot of time counting sixes, 3 at a time.
Second line: It’s “rein.”
As W. the great once said, “Let freedom rain”.
Close counts in horseshoes and TPM journalism.
From his personal POV, no doubt, selling classified material to foreign/corporate agents is his current govt-benefit$ plan. Somebody (NSA, CIA, FBI, et alia) needs to set up a sting to prove this.
I’d love to find out they were feeding him bogus info for sale and tracking the info’s movements.
So, what’s the strategy when Kushner is discovered to have committed some sort of transgression calling into serious question whether he should have had any degree of security clearance at all? Such as in the case of Rob Porter? Also, I’d like to know, in the history of people being made to divulge everything pertinent in the background clearance questionnaires, how many people have had to make what I take to be a dozen or more ongoing revisions, and still no concrete assurances there aren’t more to come? Anyone remember a person from the past that after a year of submissions was still failing at providing an accurate, completed testament to law enforcement and intel?
Kushner is not exposed, Kelly’s statement is window dressing to excuse the fact they had two wife beaters working in the White House. Some minor figures will probably be asked to leave but as Sanders said, “Mr. Kushner’s work that he has done will not be impacted and he’s going to continue to do the work that he’s done over the last year,” DJT won’t allow any interference in the family business, family is more trustworthy than henchmen.
They need to rein in the rain of reign that has fallen on us all.
Jared, I think Kelly has determined just how unimportant you are. And I imagine he’d rather explain the daily brief to Trump himself. Please go away now.
This will be an interesting stand off, with no win scenario possible for the WH.
My guess is Kelly caves in to Kushner, and most of the others. They may revoke the interim coverage for a handful of people, and Sanders will come out and say it proves the WH is tough on security. Kelly’s reputation will take another beating, but they are long past caring about that and apparently so is he. I would say there is a pretty good chance that this ends up breaking Kelly entirely…as others in the WH (including Javanka) will see this as an opportunity to push back on other directives he has issued, most importantly scheduling their meetings with Donald ahead of time and with Kelly’s approval. Once all those processes are under attack, Kelly isn’t long for the WH.
Because the other option, revoking Kushner’s interim security clearance results in Ivanka losing hers, too. That will make Donald highly upset. Of course, that IS the “correct” path for them to follow, as it becomes increasingly clear that Kushner is high on Mueller’s lists of people to indict, and having this sort of high profile fight over interim security clearances is going to look all that much worse when the indictment falls.
So the WH will definitely take option 1, as option 2 means considering longer term ramifications.
