Discussion for article #225438
I’m voting for Zephyr Teachout and Tim Wu in the NY Dem primary. I urge other registered NY Democrats to do the same. They almost certainly can’t win, but a message needs to be sent.
If true, this political interference in investigatory processes is absolutely and irrevocably disqualifying for higher office.
NY governor is the highest office CuomoLite will ever hold or should ever hold.
If true, then why would it be OK for him to continue as the NY Governor? Do you believe that somehow Federal Elected Offices are require more trust and confidence than State Elected Offices?
If this would disqualify him for President, Vice-President or Senator, then why would he still be supported for Governor?
I am shocked that a politician would create an investigating arm in order to combat corruption but then shields himself and his buddies from the very office he created.
If this is really shocking for anyone, then you need to get out more.
This should at least silence the conservatives who claim that the NY Times is a house organ for the Democratic Party.
Can you imagine FOX News running a similar investigative piece about a high-profile Republican governor?
No, me neither.
If I lived in NY it would be enough to vote against him. He is, however, currently the governor and, sadly, likely to remain so even with these revelations. Wish it was otherwise.
On the upside, this clear abuse of power (if proven) ensures he will not be in a position to further inflict harm on Americans because his future political career will never occur.
So is it OK he would continue as governor? No. But he will. What he will not do is attain federal office. For that I am very thankful.
This is starting to sound like Texas and Gov Rick Perry’s “crony capitalism.”
That all depends. In the current mindset of most people, all that matters is what party ID he runs under. If he runs as a Democrat and gets the nomination, regardless of the office he is seeking, 95% of Democrats would support him over any Republican. Party ID trumps everything which unfortunately is what we have degenerated to.
