Take note. ā€œPapers, pleaseā€ to get off the fucking plane!!!

This is a policing issue. The NYPD has a responsibility to keep every resident safe. That is made much harder if they are assisting ICE in rounding up people who donā€™t pose an actual threat. People will stop talking to NYPD officers. Crimes and leads wonā€™t be reported. The streets will become much more dangerous.

Ah the tricky web of alleged justiceā€¦

I would fucking refuseā€¦ get arrested, and sue the government for a billion fucking dollars for wrongful arrest.

You already have to show ID to get on a plane, what exactly are they going to do if you refuse to show them again to get off? Just make you live on the plane forever?

Excellent, and I hope several jurisdictions adopt this policy!

It can be very successful and New York should not be an island in this! (As a New York bully, it probably pisses me off to no end to know that the Big Apple is in the lead on this! )

It is an interesting example, since I have to assume that the NYPD is one of, if not the largest city police force in the US. I have a friend who works for the US Attorneyā€™s office who has been nervous about how theyā€™ll be directed under this administration, but who points out that the US Attorneyā€™s office canā€™t direct criminal investigations, only take cases that are recommended to them, and that the number of Federal LEOs is tiny compared to local forces. If not for local LEOs and DAs making case recommendations to them, theyā€™d have next to nothing to go on. Itā€™s not like there are a million FBI agents sitting around with nothing to doā€¦

In a battle between local law enforcement and the feds, unless a federal judge steps in with court orders for compliance, then the locals win purely based on the fact that they have they donā€™t need the feds as much as the feds need them.

It gets worse:

ā€œIn a letter to schools, [Connecticut Gov. Dannel] Malloy urged administrators to ā€˜consider having a plan in place in the event that ICE agents come to one of your schools requesting information about or access to a student.ā€™ He instructed schools to contact an attorney before cooperating with an ICE agent, as well as to deny entry to any agent who does not have a warrant. Malloy also warned that not all warrants actually give federal agents the authority to ask about or detain a student.ā€

In Trumpā€™s brave new world, not even school children are safe in their classrooms nowā€¦

Likewise - but many forces do not have vibrant Irish connections!

And the perception is that ā€œtheirā€ immigrants ainā€™t botherinā€™ no body no how. Theyā€™re washing dishes, sweeping floors, mixing concrete. I recall the window washers in one multi-storied bldg in which I worked. it was a relatively new bldg and the windows opened from the inside for washing. Weā€™d exchange small talk with the washers. They all had eastern European accents. Same for janitors. Now how does that happen? Obviously they had been absorbed into their respective ethnic culture in NYC & boroughs.

Weā€™re they here legally? Donā€™t know. . Nobody cared.

Do you suppose that Chiselinā€™ Trump will have his ICE agents round up sick patients from their hospital beds? Or, will he require their nurses and physicians to do it, instead?

Well, let me tell you the story of a man named Charlie on a tragic and fateful day . . . .

I didnā€™t really expect it to happen. But it has!
