what the fuck is he talking about – and he referenced the recent protests. so… bratton sounds like he’d approve use of machine guns at routine demonstrations. there was no rampaging, with storefronts being broken; pedestrians being attacked; this is a big escalation in personal weaponry. the nypd already has its own tanks. ray kelly used to brag how he had his own military force – waterways/airways/ground all have their own divisions.

IF they keep the gear locked in a compartment in the vehicle, IF they remember NOT to leave the door open and keys in ignition of such vehicle - it’s not a half bad idea

Granted, I’ve only been on this planet 38 years, but I have yet to ever see…EVER…anything whatsoever occurring in this country that required police to engage in spraying machine gun fire at anything or anyone. Not a damn thing.

Seems like this is how NYPD manages to get around the Posse Comitatus Act. Just become your own fucking military force with the blessings of the Feds and Voila! You have essentially the same thing in the community, if not on paper.

Absolutely unacceptable, even as a warning, because the police are out of control in a few big cities across the country,
BTW, I’m certainly far less concerned about adults in major cities worrying about their “safety” than the sadness and anger that I feel about little children gunned down by a little rich kid in Connecticut.
Priorities, people. More guns are hardly the solution.

Well, except that machine guns would have not accomplished jack-shit at any of the “examples” - then it is just another excuse to kill people for peaceful demonstrations. Or are his embedded cops going to carry the machine guns while in the crowd?

These guys are going to get what?? These guys send rounds at human targets with impunity and cant even hit an innocent man with more than 50% of their shots? Where is the NRA’s outrage.

The recent killings of two cops sitting in their patrol car has shook up everybody in NY, but unfortunately it’s the PD alone who will vent their anger at it by targeting even more young black men than ever before.
You do not need it until you need it. This is the largest city in the country, where there is a lot of potential to raise a lot of hell in ways we do not expect, for those of you with short memories, If New Yorkers, where all races and creeds and genders are embedded in the power system, do not like it, they can vote out the officials who are tolerating it.
Why not surface-to-air missiles and submarines on the East River?
