Discussion: NYC Mayor: 'Thank' And 'Console' NYPD Officers As They Mourn Losses

Discussion for article #231430

Does the mayor then expect that officers won’t be policing funerals for the next black victims?

My hope is if they do cease protests until after the officers are buried, that they come out STRONGER against police brutality and excessive force by the cops. It also seems very apparent that the police have their own set of laws, separate from the people. I hope the people will not be deterred by media and the union thug who seems intent on using the deaths of these cops as a means to silence criticism.

Weeks ago, Pat Lynch claimed he warned NYPD brass and the mayor that these police deaths could occur as a result of allowing protests; now he’s screaming, “I told you so!” So, yes, now deBlasio is going along with Lynch! Why do the totalitarians always win? Because Democrats always cave.

Interesting history of NYC police unions and mayors.

In 1997, to protest Mayor Giuliani’s insistence on incremental pay raises, thousands of officers took to the streets to block traffic, chanting “Rudy’s a liar, set him on fire.”
