Despite Trump’s obvious incompetence and questionable mental status, the Republican hegemony has become expert at wielding the levers of power and obstruction over the last 4 decades. It was an easy prediction to make, but watching the actual hundreds of millions of dark money dollars pour into attack ads paired with the mostly successful voting suppression efforts and obstruction of efforts to legitimize actual voting practices in compromised states, I can feel the nausea start to overwhelm me. The big plan - pack the judiciary and skew the census to enable continued computer driven gerrymandering. The Republicans have a plan, and with the gain of more than a thousand seats at every level of government since the last census, they are 70 or even 80% there. Our existence as a viable party nationally is in a much more precarious position than I think we realize. Winning back the House is step one, but it is what the Dems do after that that is going to matter. As long as the Senate is out of reach, we are just going to be banging on the door while the Repubs continue to advance their pollution of the judiciary and multiple other voter suppression schemes. Some awful history is coming our way.

So the Trump malministration is acting in egregiously bad faith. Again.

I don’t want to normalize this by saying, “What else is new?” But I’m having trouble thinking of any other response.
The basis of our political systems is the right of the people to make and to alter their constitutions of government. But the Constitution which at any time exists, till changed by an explicit and authentic act of the whole people, is sacredly obligatory upon all. The very idea of the power and the right of the people to establish government presupposes the duty of every individual to obey the established government.

— President George Washington
That especially includes individuals walking into the White House, Congress, or Court for their first day of civil service.
