Discussion: NRSC Deletes Tweet Saying Double Amputee Dem Doesn't 'Stand' For Vets

Why oh why oh why don’t campaign organizations ever have a sensible adult reading over tweets and looking at ads and other stuff?

It’s utterly amazing how much awful shit goes out because nobody with a brain and a bit of sense looked at it, leaving selection of stock photos and writing up to low-level idiots.

(Meanwhile: Go Tammy!)

This obviously is not “poor wording”. They knew what they were saying, and huck huck, thought it was funny.
Which is truly sad. The NRSC obviously doesn’t give a crap about veterans, wounded or unscathed.

They have no shame and now they are getting desperate.

Really? They took it down? Because it would be inappropriate to attack a Democratic candidate who’s also a disabled veteran for being both disabled and a veteran. Let’s see… during which election have I heard of this?

Why are they even bothering trying to defend that seat? It’s going to go back to the Dems.

For those keeping ‘score’, Max Cleland (a triple amputee) was leading during his '02 re-election campaign.

The '02 GA race?

Republicans involved in taking him down need to spend eternity in a very hot place.

And McCain and Hagel raised a ‘stink’ over the Chambliss ad.

Max Cleland for $1000, Alex.

But the NRSC is right. Tammy Duckworth doesn’t stand for vets. She doesn’t stand for anyone. Know why? Because she has no fucking legs, she lost them while engaged in active combat while fighting for the country, a country she loves so much she was willing to make the ultimate sacrifice. Please try to make this an issue.

And they immediately replaced the deleted Tweet with this one: " Tammy Duckworth does not have a leg to stand on in her support for Vets!"

Amazingly bad optics aside, this is one of those bizarre fever dreams the GOP has. It’s like if you point out racism, you’re the racist. If you’re a vet who votes against war and for veterans programs, you’re not standing up for vets.

I bought it up because I had a similar conversation with Sooner in relation to that.

Plus Illinois is a state that Trump needs to win to cut into any Clinton firewall.

So Kirk is either running to Trump or he’s running from him.

Add the supreme Court future selections.

This nothing new, I remember when she ran the first time the man that ran against her publicly made fun of her for not having legs!
I can not understand why ANY vet would support republicans, but I have relatives that are vets that won’t answer me, they just vote for them.

Google the ad that had Cleland as Saddam’s best friend.

There is no bad optics to those who don’t wanna see.

I’m so angry with the GOP. This is beyond the pale. This lady is a veteran and a hero, who gave all for country. I need to go punch something or someone but my husband not here at the moment. Just joking!

It needs to be brought up. Never forget what those sociopaths are capable of.

Not to worry. Although it seems prevalent, I have 2 kids who are vets and both democrats. And one of them belongs to a veterans group for Bernie. They can’t understand the predilection towards Republicans, either. Republicans have never done much of anything but harm to the actual people in the military. When they talk about a “strong” military, mostly what they are talking about are big defense contracts for their buddies, IMHO.
