Discussion: NRA Under Pressure From Grifting Allegations, NY Attorney General Probe

Nice way to start the week.

Maybe the NRA civil war will be fought with guns. How ironic.

The talk of Russian money getting laundered through the NRA to fund campaign activities favoring Trump and other GOP candidates seems to have moved to the background a bit. I look for that to resurface.

DIE NRA, DIE!!!

You are nothing but a mass murderer enabler and it is time for the NRA to shoot itself in both the heart and head of your low life organization! You club of wimps!!!

Who would guess that an organization which would hire Oliver North might be kinda shady?

Liability insurance should be mandatory for every gun owner, to cover any firearm-related property damage or injury. It shouldn’t be macho-marketed as Carry Guard bullshit either, and should cover the injured party’s expenses, not the shooter’s lawyer.

One of the 20 ongoing investigations no doubt

From the FBI Transcript:

“You know how Wayne found you?” asks Angus.

“I know how he found me.”

“It’s called a transponder.”

“I know what it’s called. He won’t find me again.”

Ollie insists he won’t get caught, then Angus says, “No, you don’t understand.”

Ironically, Angus doesn’t understand either. Like Ollie, he thinks he’s in control, but isn’t. We see this when he walks into his boss’ office to talk about Wayne.

“You know Wayne by sight, is that correct?” asks the boss.

“Yes sir I know him every which way.” says Angus.

Later, the boss says, “Wayne killed three men in Del Rio Motel yesterday and two others in that colossal goat-fuck out in the desert.”

“We can stop that.”

“Seem pretty sure of yourself.”

Angus smiles and nods. Soon, Wayne will shoot him dead in his hotel room, despite his attempt to bargain the money for his life. Here his certainty goes head to head with Wayne’s.

“I know where [the money] is.” says Angus.

“I know something better.” says Wayne, “I know where it’s going to be.”

“Where’s that?”

“It will be brought to me and placed at my feet.”

“You don’t know to certainty. In twenty minutes it could be here.”

“I do know to certainty.”

More like all-for-profit.

OT, but

“Bolton: U.S. Promised Money For Warmbier Release But Never Paid Bill”

Are you fucking kidding me? How is this not all over the place with people screaming their heads off? Look what they did to Warmbier. Can you imagine what they’re going to do to the next guy after this? Whatever they do is all on Trump and Bolton. They might as well already have the blood on their hands.

NRA executives expect a “dissolution action” to emerge from the probe, the story says.

Does this mean what I think it mean? Aka no more NRA?

I love how they are nearly admitting that they are a shady operation that can’t be looked into, and that they should have moved to a more corruption-friendly state. Down south somewhere, no doubt.

Yep.

Nothing in the constitution grants people the right to expose others to serious risk without compensation. Insurance sellers are skillful at estimating the risks posed by drivers with specific characteristics, and we could expect them to be similarly skillful at assessing the risks posed by gun owners.

Of course they had to interview one guy who’s worried sick that some very fine people might not be able to get guns, because NPR.

Also…Gabriel Gifford’s watchdog group is suing the FEC over dark money donations to the NRA so they’re getting it from all sides and no doubt CREW is on top of this as well. There is so much corruption and self-dealing at the heart of the NRA. Its probably been that way for decades to keep themselves and LePuke afloat, seeing how most people in US in the last 10 years have been against the poisonous message these gun nuts have been sending. The NRA went from being an outdoor sports shooting advocate to a bunch of rigid 2nd Amendment ideologues, to a Republican branded offshoot of the party, to having a not so subtle white supremacist and nationalist agenda for its backing.

I know TPM had an article about Gifford’s group too but I couldn’t find it so here’s a different one…

I hope all these lawsuits and inquiries drain them of what’s left of their fucking blood money. They disgust me.

You know things must be really bad when the NRA is being investigated by both the federal government AND the State of New York for financial improprieties and its Oliver North that was forced out of the NRA for trying to rid the NRA of the odious Wayne La Pierre for his role in the organization’s financial wrong doings.

Yeah, but what happens when child finds gun and accidentally shoots and kills another child in the family? What would the insurance do here?

Here’s a great article on the basic history of the NRA and how it went from an organization that spent most of its years promoting gun control and safety, to what we have today, which is the libertarian fever swamps of their unhinged imaginations and intensive lobbying efforts on Capitol Hill. The change is dramatic. I had no idea how far they’ve strayed since most of my lifetime they’ve been full of incitement to violence. When I was a kid, the closest my family (really two of my brothers) were allowed gun play was with die-cast toy six-shooters in fake leather holsters and pretend Davy Crockett rifles and coonskin hats.
