Oh Noes…
How about a caption to go with the photo, TPM?
I’m very sorry to hear that. Those guys were wonderful at making highly technical information about cars very easy to understand, they always made it funny, and they did so without ever belittling callers for asking stupid questions. RIP
That’s sad news. They were consistently as funny or funnier than most working comedians, as quick and clever as anyone out there. You didn’t have to care one thing about cars to love the show. Rest in peace, Tom Magliozzi, and don’t drive like your brother.
RIP Tom, and my condolences to Ray and your family.
I loved you guys.
(And don’t drive like my brother!)
This makes me so sad… I listened to their show for many years, just because of them, not because of my (very limited) love for auto mechanics. I learned a lot in spite of myself, and grew very fond of them. RIP Tom; my deepest sympathies, Ray. And thanks to both of you.
Brilliant minds, yada yada yada…
What TLQ said.
Was it his carburetor? Belts needed tightening? Filters needing replaced? An egg in his radiator?
I’m sorry to hear this news. Saturday mornings will never be the same. Somehow, maybe i’m wrong, but this news seems best absorbed with the same sense of humor that he gave to each one of us as we listened to him tout his wisdom on cars. I will miss listening to him.
He’ll lie in state in the grease pit, and his casket (which will be made out of old Havoline cans) will be carried on top of a Dodge Dart.
If you never heard “Max and the Dead Schnauzer” your life is not complete. Funniest.Thing.Ever
If you haven’t yet, check out John Cleese’s eulogy for Graham Chapman. Same approach, and it was perfect.
The late Tom is on the left.
That was the genius of the show. You really didn’t have to be a grease monkey or even a person at all interested in car mechanics to thoroughly enjoy it. I always learned things I would never have otherwise pursued and did so while laughing my ass off.
“So is that Cheryl spelled with a Ch or Sh?”
Oh bummer bummer bummer. RIP friend.
I was thinking my old Pinto. A great show, funny, personal, and a Saturday morning favorite.
lower your car antennas to half mast!
