I don’t know whether the investigative report makes things worse or better. If you’ve been counseling someone to stop their (unlawful) behavior for a while, at least that means you’re not turning a completely blind eye to the situation, but pretty early on you’d have to recognize that your “counseling” wasn’t having the right effect.
Good move, I guess, but can we also fire most of the on-air news readers? I cringe everytime one “reporter” greets another “reporter” with “Hey so-and-so” and why are they all incapable of asking the obvious follow-up questions?
OTOH, they put at least the start of minimal effort into doing something, and eventually did. NPR had numerous reports in less than three years but AP only had one in seven years, but I’m skeptical his behavior really only started at NPR. Either AP actively turned a blind eye, or women knew it was pointless to even lodge a complaint.
