OMG. Tragic.
I’m in tears.
Horrible, terrible, and sad.
From the looks of it, this will be a total loss, there’s no way to fight that up there.
I’ve been there several times, absolutely devastating.
All the right wing sites are blaming the fire on muslims . How long before
trump follows suit???
O my fucking god! O this is awful!
I bet that the French are grateful for the President’s Tweet. It probably never occurred to them to spray water on the fire, and acting quickly? Wow. That’s a great idea.
So now old bone spurs knows how to fight a church fire. I’m SO sick of this loser!
Perhaps flying water tankers could be used to put it out.
If only they’d been raking the grounds diligently this would never have happened! Good thing Trump’s around to help them realize that speed is of the essence and they should probably use water. They could fly the tankers in through the front doors, which are pretty big, and, you know, water is pretty wet.
I have this horrible suspicion that because it was an iconic and historic building someone made the decision not to install a fire suppression or sprinkler system. I hope I’m wrong because this looks fully involved and out of control to me.
President Idiot is so helpful. Bomb a historic structure with water! Fortunately most of the main structure is stone. It will be saved/rebuilt, but the outer roof and steeples will be destroyed. Reims was rebuilt after WWI.
One of the wettest substances we’ve ever seen, from the standpoint of water.
President Dingleberry is probably salivating at the real estate potential of the site.
Horrific, tragic, unreal. I found out about it minutes ago sitting literally right under a painting of the Notre Dame that my mother painted years ago. I’ve been inside several times, as has anyone who’s visited Paris.
The world’s greatest and best-known concentration of Gothic Cathedrals (the first of which was built in Paris, St. Denis) is in and just outside Paris, and this is perhaps the most famous and beloved.
I hope they manage to put it out before it’s too late, and save the windows and other artifacts. It’s a primarily masonry structure but many interior sections are built of wood or rest on wooden beams.
The Art!
Well at least that chucklehead from Louisiana has an alibi…
