Discussion: Not So Fast, Media: GOPer Says Trump Tweets Didn't Prompt Ethics Reversal

Trump: The Republican party is corrupt even for me. I will keep them in line, trust me.

COULD you, Mikey? Then why did Ryan give it a tacit endorsement this morning? Just running for cover before the shtstorm? Or is it really just the meme you guys are adopting for the next 4 years of blaming the media every time you step in garbage?

So the GOP admitted they folded, just not to Trump. PLEEEASE let this be the catalyst for feuding.

Oh the irony! The most ethically challenged soon-to-be-foreign-policy-for-sale-President in history who stands to profit by tens of billions from the Presidency gets credit for stopping elimination of independent ethics office that monitors comparatively small time corruption by members of the Legislative branch.

Note to media clowns: Knowing what happened and in what sequence everything happened and why the things happened that way and what caused everything is pretty much THE WHOLE JOB.

And because Rump is so extensively ethically challenged, he’d do well to not push and prod House GOP too much. After all, that’s where the impeachment charges originate from. In the end, they’re both on the side of evil. The difference is Rump can’t play with others. The House GOP doesn’t recognize him as being one of them.

Media clowns indeed. Priority one, get rid of these idiots. There are very few exceptions. These news fools are just effing stupid.

Breaking News: Americans who read newspapers that don’t feature Sasquatch above the fold are smarter than most pundits and talking heads by a long shot, study finds.

I’m fine with this, GOPers. You just turn everything into a dick-measuring contesting and leave the rest of us (and our healthcare) the hell alone.

I can’t express how dangerous and demoralizing it could be for the media to start giving the credit for activist citizen wins to this thug.

WE made them back down by flooding the switchboards and making our voices heard. And WE can do it again. Even with every branch of government controlled by the moral reprobates, WE are still the ones with the power.

Now they want to take away OUR win and ascribe it to Dear Leader Who Makes All Good Things Happen.

Do not allow that!

Technically the GOP did abandon this after Trump had tweeted. So of course Trump will claim credit.

I think there’s some bonus irony in here. He wasn’t actually trying to stop the neutralizing of the ethics office at all. And it may end up that his comments actually help protect the independent ethics office because people seem to be interpreting the comments as if he was defending it (with no basis whatsoever).

I find this amusing.

This is the time to take note who got the story right and who got the story wrong…and then follow through by not clicking on links to stories by the organizations that got it wrong. Don’t reward bad behavior with the $$$ your clicks provide to them.

This what I think happened. Trump’s minders read the tea leaves, knew the move would fail, and drafted or encouraged a tweet, which came off as a very mild rebuke, without really directly disapproving the OCE gambit, knowing full well that some dopey news outlets would give Trump credit. This will happen a lot, mark my words. The Trumpteam will closely monitor public opinion on issues and when it looks like GOP or anyone else’s, moves are widely unpopular. Trump will tweet as ā€˜Dear Leader’ and all will adore him and call it wise. ā€˜He was cruel, but fair’. It’s the tweet version of ā€˜a leader is the guy that runs out on front of a mob’.

I expected this story to prove that congress changed this vote BEFORE Trump twitted. What? Where? Why.? When? WTF?

For eight years Obama was a complete failure on messaging.

Trump hasn’t even taken over yet and already has the media giving him credit for things he has nothing to do with.

Trump will take care of Trump. Right now he’s in a strong position with the Republican base and he can get away with this crap (especially with the assistance of the media). He’ll probably still be getting away with it in eighteen months since this Congress will not be improving the current 11% approval rating.

It’s not about the Dems or the GOP, it’s about a ā€œregimeā€.
