Discussion for article #240279
Gotta grow the bench, people. We can’t hold the Senate and the governor’s mansions with the same people, its a pretty simple concept.
Heitkamp is a Blue Dog Dem on a good day. The state Democratic party should be throwing a celebration.
Fine, but the question remains: who is the party’s next candidate?
How many Democrats are there in North Dakota? About 47 or so?
Every time I see a story like this it pisses me off that I need to be concerned about a state with such a tiny population since its two U.S. Senate seats are just as important as the two senate seats in my home state of California…Not fair!
This is actually seen as good news for Democrats who want to retake the Senate in 2016.
Enough to elect Democrats to Congress, it seems.
(Maybe only 126 voters in the whole state?)
Why are their hopes dashed? The senate seat is more valuable. North Dakota has just the at-large US House seat, so there’s not even gerrymandering to think about. Maybe focus on electing more Democrats at the local and state legislative level to build the bench.
