One hopes. He seems to favor suicide by MAD.
You bought him with eyes wide open, and now, you own him.
You’re shocked that President Racist-Bigot stabbed you in the back, yet you still trust him?
The definition of a true sucker…
The Texas reference (combined with the fact that I am awake way too early in the morning, to take a conference call) reminded me of the old definition of an “honest Texas politician”, according to the late and much-missed Molly Ivins.
An honest Texas politician is one who stays bought.
Your conclusion on Trump I agree with. But forcing the Republicans in Congress to actually HAVE to negotiate with Democrats I can only see as it being beneficial in the long term.
“For me personally, I trust the President’s negotiating ability."
On what basis does this Congressmen have trust in the President’s negotiating ability. After seven months, he has demonstrated neither a negotiation nor ability.
What did they expect? A man so dumb you can play him like a fiddle can be played by the other side, too.
You wanted change. You wanted a business man. You wanted a political outsider and neophyte. But you got a know nothing.
You should catch some MSNBC. Rachel Maddow delivers bombshells on the aRussia investigation and Lawrence O’Donnell blasts Donnie Two Scoops politically.
I “gasped” when doofus Trump was elected!
Listening to the late night comedians and the cable news talking heads it is reasonably clear that the general feeling is Trump was rolled. But I am not so sure Trump wasn’t a victim of Fox News and the other cable news voices in his head. The month of September is shaping up to be very, very busy with at least two major hurricanes and any number of legislative must passes. Trump knows that because the pretty people on cable are all talking about how little time Congress has. He probably thought that by immediately agreeing to the first Democratic offer and kicking the can down the road he was taking two items off the Washington plate and making more time available for the other stories that are predicted to emerge.
I’m right there with you as long as we’re not limited in the nature of either the thoughts or the prayers.
You suppose that Pelosi and Schumer sussed that they should schedule negotiations later in the day and then run out the clock?
He ‘gasped’??? What kind of a moron IS he? This used to be the ‘norm’. Compromise. At least TALKING to the other side. He ‘gasped’. God.
I think they’re just pretending to be outraged so that they can save face with the nut jobs. They’re probably all relieved they could punt this till later.
Under Obama it was all obstruction. Now it is get out of the way so the adults in the room can govern while they lie to the rubes that it is all the big bad Democrats’ fault.
More proof that its not about governing with the GOP its about RULING…
“Voting to raise the debt ceiling more than once in an election cycle is too many and once is about one too many,” he told reporters.
At first I thought this was just a GOP ploy, using the debt ceiling as bait for their ignorant base even though they knew it had nothing to do with spending or the debt. Now, I’m starting to believe that many of the GOP elected Senators and Members of Congress have no idea what it really is. They think that not raising it will somehow limit spending without a catastrophic meltdown of the world economy. I thank the propagandists of the Tea Party stripe for this sad state of affairs. Propagating ignorance in order to gain power has a downside, and we’re probably about to see it.
But you didn’t gasp when he told Billy Bush to grab women by the pussy.
Siding with Democrats > Sexual Assault.
I’m not sure this is going to happen after all – Trump can back out any time and just blame the Ds for something whether true or not – but if the “deal” holds the Rs certainly won’t be happy about it even if Trump calls it a win.
The Rs need the Ds in both the House and Senate because the Rs alone don’t have the votes for anything in the House, and now they need 60 votes in the Senate. So the Ds now have the Rs over the same barrel as was the reverse in the Obama years.
The ideal situation is that Trump decides he’s made a bad deal and wants out, but can’t get out since he’ll look ever worse. So Trump and the Rs now have to decide if it’s better politics to back out of the deal whilst blaming Ds and having CNN slam them for actually breaking the deal, or living with having to cave again in 3 months. I like demoralizing the Rs, but the Ds still need to be careful that they don’t just hand the Rs a rhetorical victory by not spiking the ball.
I thought we were sending brickbats and insults!
