Discussion for article #229329

It’s a Miracle! In North Dakota life can be created from a dead sperm and a dead egg.

Good thing North Dakota has all that new oil money; they’re gonna need it to defend against the lawsuits…

there are certain things that even if a majority of voters want it, doesnt make it law. A majority of rednecks cannot vote in a law that states they can kill jews, or these or those. Nor can a state majority overturn laws protected by the feds. Idiots.

Life begins at erection in North Dakota.

“That absolutely is not the intent,” says Janne Myrdal.

OK, scrap the initiative and write it the way you intend it to be taken. Oh, wait - it is and you’re lying?

This measure is terrifying. People with terminal cancer may be FORCED to take Chemo and other treatments. It will effect the use of birth control. The local priest is preaching about this daily in mass and in classes. They have passed out yard signs at church. Because of the ‘oil money’ the legislature feels confident about these stupid measures. They have a huge pot to defend any harebrained scheme they come up with. When I was having my living will done by an attorney he inserted a clause stating if I was pregnant I would be kept alive under any circumstances. When I proofed the document I demanded he remove the offensive statement. I told him I was not a science experiment and if I was dead or beyond a reasonable cure I was to be allowed to die. He was appalled. But he did it. These goddamn idiots are going to be prosecuting women for having a miscarriage. This is their second swing at a ‘personhood’ amendment. Their posters and information is absolutely everywhere, including the school and post office. I wish people would have taken notice of this issue several months ago. This getting press even for a few days is better than nothing.

Great, now them bone heads in Nort Dakoda wat to tell us when life begins. All you dumb sunflower farmers in Nort Dakoda should get yourself a life.

This is not the only instance of this-- There is another measure on ballot here in Colorado-- AGAIN– Even after the voters defeated prior attempts–

The problem with this debate is that the word “conception” has a warm and fuzzy Bible-ish feel to it, and thus appeals to many Christians. Opponents of personhood bills should call these “zygote” bills to give it a decidedly scientific (and unappealing) sound to it.

Ask your average God-fearing Christian if “life begins at conception” and they will probably say yes. Ask them if they think a “zygote is a person” they will probably say no.

North Dakota women will get little sympathy from me if they don’t get out and vote !!! These radicals will not stop until they chain you up for 9 months until you “produce” and fulfill your womanly duty.

Once again here in Colorado, personhood amendment is going down in flames for the third time since 2008.

Mississippi had one of these bills last election that didn’t pass. Guess all the fertile women weren’t willing to give up their IUDs as birth control devices.

So if a woman miscarries she will not only have to deal with the emotions caused by the miscarriage, she’ll have to deal with a criminal investigation?

Where will the money come from for the increased police investigations?

Exactly how will this jive with doctor/patient confidentiality?

If this will also effect women who merely visit the state, is the state prepared for the decrease in tourism?

What effect do they expect this will have on businesses that they might want to settle in ND?

Will they test women between the ages of 10-50 every month to see if there is a fetus to be protected or wait until she goes to the doctor? See the above question on confidentiality?

Do they seriously believe that American women, or at least women in ND aren’t covered by the Constitutional right to privacy?

I would have found another attorney.

How much more backwards do these people of ND want to go…? When the State takes your right to vote away, too, do not cry to us, if you go along with this Control of your body…You all KNOW that lump of cells is not living, ----how many of you have had early miscarriages of the mass into your own toilet? this is men trying to control women again, and if you let them, you are done…

What’s wrong with these people, a-goin’ ageenst the Buy-Bull an’all? The Buy-Bull sayes lahhhhf begins at the first breath. Says it right there in the very words of the most holy on high.

These blaspheeeemers is a-goin’ ageeenst the holy wurd of g-d, and sumbudy needs to smite them before the lard takes out his revenge on the en-tire (accent on the “en”) Ewe Ess of Ay.

Nonsense. Just shoot her and dump her into the mass grave reserved specifically for baby killers.

Scientific facts are not subject to popular vote. If that was the case, the world would still be flat, and the earth would still be the center of the universe.

Science is scary! It’s hard to understand. We must dumb it down to a level where we can control the basic facts the Bible teaches us. Especially for the sake of our children. God forbid they should learn actual science! Biology is a forbidden fruit! Teaching children about our own bodies is a sin! Besides, the science of human reproduction is icky! That is something we don’t want our children to know about!
