Discussion: North Carolina GOPer: Party Will Lose In 2014 Over Not Expanding Medicaid (VIDEO)

Discussion for article #225597

It should, but it will only be an issue if the Democrats make it one, and Democrats in red states seem to be loath to connect themselves with the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare) and thus with Obama. Will any Democrat in a state like North Carolina have the courage to link him- or herself with the niblack man in the White House?

The GOTP has really painted themselves into a corner. How can you be for and against something at the same time?

Oh, right it is possible if you are crazy.

"There’s 500,000 people in North Carolina that could have insurance coverage the next 2 years and not cost the state a dime, and the state’s not accepting that. Now, if you’re representing the citizens, how can you not do that?”

Obvious answer: your “Republican colleagues” are not “representing the citizens”.

They’re representing sociopathic, corporate One-Percenters who don’t give a rat’s ass about useful vidiots duped into Foxnesia each election cycle.

I have a feeling this is a sign of things to come…

The Medicaid refusals are resulting in hospital closures, particularly in smaller towns/rural areas, exasperating an already tough situation. As the pain to red state officials like this mayor increase, more and more of them are going to start peeling off of the ideological tract.

After all, its one thing to be against a law that isn’t implemented…but now we are talking real money.

GOPs are gonna get thumped in a few states because of that.

That’s only one of the many reasons.

not to be picky, but since i dont live far from Belhaven and this mayor is trying to do the right thing- it is spelled with only one l. Belhaven! and it is a very beautiful place.

I hope O’Neal has a thick skin, because the GOP wingnut hate mail/email/tweets/phone calls/FB posts are going to start pouring in.

Lawrence O’Donnell has given this mayor a lot of air time, and it’s an admirable thing he’s doing. Imagine, McCrory and the legislature are turning down a ton of Federal money which would benefit the state’s poor people. Could it be because they’re poor and so, in Rs eyes, undeserving? Nah.

At least Sen. Kay Hagan has been pretty supportive of the ACA. Some of the down-ticket Dems need to wake up to their opportunity this year.

The people are making themselves heard with “Moral Monday” – the state has been piling on the right-wing legislation, Duke Energy dumps toxic ash in hundreds of miles of river – and so on. If the Democratic supporters actually show up this year we could see some real changes.

Very noble cause, but shouldn’t he be marching to Raleigh rather than Washington, D.C ?

LOL, if the Tea Party followed that rule, you’d be able to hear neck veins throbbing at a TP gathering.

When does he switch to the Democratic Party and complete his return to sanity?

Hate to say it but if it means we keep the Senate with a Kay Hagan victory, I hope the good mayor fails in his efforts (at least for this year).

It might have to do with media markets and the coverage the march will get. Cameras are always rolling in Washington, D.C. which is No.8, and Raleigh is No.44

Yeah, that does makes sense.
