Discussion: North Carolina GOP Chair Tweets Memes Linking Hillary Clinton To KKK

Discussion for article #238838

Do they even try to make sense? The Southern GOP openly echoes Klan ideals… but Hillary is evil because Dems once supported ideas the GOP supports now?

(And that’s leaving aside the sickening sexism of the imagery – manipulating photos to create a “witch crone” image. Great way to appeal to women.)

The KKK almost died out in the mid-20th century. Luckily, Republican conservatives brought it back to its current glory.

Harnett "believes we have to learn from history and move past it."

You have to know some history before you can learn from it. History didn’t stop in 1964 as people like this seem to think.

This nonsense only plays with the willfully deluded usual suspects in states that Hillary Clinton isn’t likely to win in any event. Although, I wouldn’t be surprised to see her win in North Carolina despite being trashed in this manner.

Leaving aside the whole “the parties shifted” thing and how insulting it is for republicans to think black people don’t know this (every time they do shit like this it screams "hey black people, we republicans think you’re dumb), the GOP desperately wants people to remember that the democrats embraced the KKK in the late 1800s so as to the distract from fact the republicans still embraces the KKK in 2015.

Actually the history here, purported to be important, is barely past 1864.

You know a person or group has nothing when they rely on the juvenile tactic of publicly posting the worst images possible of their rival. I’m just surprised they didn’t draw a mustache and tacky devil horns on her image.

This is a really bizarre–and rather lame–attempt at trolling. Does this man honestly believe the vast majority of black Americans aren’t keenly aware of the history of the KKK? And that HRC would somehow be tied to them? Good, dog, man, were you home-schooled by Donald Trump?

This public service announcement brought to you by the Teatrolls’ “have a black person say it and it makes it ok” campaign…

Puppies must work for this guy…they use the same discredited argument.

So nothing from this century? The people here weren’t born yesterday and we are all well aware of the last 50-70 year of this country’s political history. You can keep pushing this shit as much as you like, but nobody is falling for it.

The only US Senator who was still a member of the KKK while in office was Colorado Senator Rice W. Means a Republican (Sen Byrd was a member as a youth before he was elected). Edward L. Jackson who was a Republican was governor of Indiana, and a Klan member, Let’s also not forget David Duke got 45% of the vote in Louisiana in the 90’s.

The KKK was a conservative organization in states like Ohio, Indiana, and Colorado where conservatives were Republicans so was the KKK.

What was that song from long ago … nothing could be finer than to be in Carolina in the morning … with the smell of Republican desperation clogging one’s nostrils …
