Ugh, first the Stone let down and now this!
No referrals for prosecution!
Unless they could prove over 900 ballots were dubious this is the best possible outcome. But Harris should now be disqualified from being a candidate.
I can see it now, from Kris Kobach and Trump:
“The type of election fraud we see now in North Carolina points to the urgent need for ballot reform initiatives!! I told you so!!”
Three strokes and you’re out, right?
That usually doesn’t last much past your mid-teens.
Rewarding the cheat by giving him a do-over…where are the penalties.
This is North Carolina. Harris is a shoe-in.
Unanimity is a refreshing thing to see, for a change.
If Harris can run again, then this is a miscarriage of justice.
Presumeably this new election will include a primary, under the still wet-ink law passed after the 2018 election?
well here it comes, another typical election, republican Jesus freak grifter and now shown to be crook vs. Democrat. Another day in American politics.
Can’t they just seat the non-fraudulent candidate? Even if the election commission won’t do it, can’t the house itself just seat him?
Only if the elections board either decides he’s the winner, or if they throw the whole mess to the House and say “you decide”.
In any sane system, the penalty for cheating so blatantly would be to lose the seat to the opponent.
Quite apart from the fairness, what a waste of taxpayers to allow the party of fiscal responsibility to have a do-over because it got caught breaking the law the first time.
I believe so and the law was passed so that Harris could be replaced on the ballot.
My bet is Harris won’t run again, due to “health concerns.” The Rs will replace him with someone less tainted by the cheating.
Yeah, this “heads I win, tails we flip again” thing sucks. But harris will probably lose his primary. Again.
I think he will run. If he gave two fucks about the NC GOP he wouldn’t have primaried the incumbent.
