Discussion: North Carolina Attorney General Won't Defend Anti-Gay Law In Court

Does North Carolina elect its state attorney general? I’m assuming he’s not appointed by the governor if he’s opposing a law that McCrory signed.

Gov McCrory proves once again… no cost is too great to deny anyone their unalienable rights…

look how long we fought the Civil War…

Yes, it does. Roy Cooper was elected North Carolina Attorney General in 2000 and has won re-election three times. He decided to run against Pat McCrory for Governor in 2016’s election.

NC meet your next Governor, Roy Cooper. Finally, someone has the good sense to stand up to this bullshit in their State government. Kudos to you Mr. Cooper.

But seriously, isn’t access to courts a right? How can they just pass a law that says “No state courts for you peons”?

Try reloading the page. It’s worked for me using Firefox.

Thanks, 538. I’m using chrome, but reloading is not doing the trick. I’m having to navigate through the Latest TPM Article Topics page.

A profile in courage. Did not think there was an elected official in North Carolina with such character, decency and courage. What a great man!

I’m with alliebean. This man has earned a contribution from him, however modest it will need to be. My admiration for him is boundless.

Apparently, McCory didn’t stop to think before demanding this special session. He just handed Cooper a huge PR win and instant name recognition in the upcoming election. It will be interesting to watch and determine how corporations line up, as they will also be held accountable, as talk is cheap. If they really support equal rights for everyone, they will support Cooper.

I keep getting logged out too. Sometimes refresh works, sometimes it doesn’t. When I go to the log in box I sometimes get an error message that tells me to reload the page. When I do…Voila, I’m back in with my avatar showing. Btw, I also have Chrome as my browser.

Do so – he’s one of the good guys!

I’m logged in on the main page but sometimes on discussion forums it wants me to log in, then won’t let me. I go back to the main page and there I am logged in again.
I use Safari and Chrome.
