Discussion: North Carolina AG: It's Time To Stop Fighting Gay Marriage In Court

Discussion for article #225645

He’s right that it’s futile, but our Kochtopus proconsul will just hire some well-connected Raleigh or Charlotte private firm to defend it at about ten times the cost to the state.

If Hillary runs in 2016,a Dem has a good chance at winning the NC governor’s race.

Good to see that AGs in the red states are beginning to comprehend the legal issues involved. It shows that they can understand – you just got to whup them upside the head with a 2×4 first to get their attention. At least Kentucky’s AG was a little faster off the mark.

150-200K North Carolinians split their ballots to vote for Obama and McCrory because they fell (yet again) for the myth that there’s such a thing as a moderate Republican.

“… it’s time to stop making arguments we will lose …”

This makes me feel a bit better: a simple clean end break with Teh Stoopid wouldn’t have sat right with my limited understanding of how hard backwards NC’s rolling these days.

But OTOH, doesn’t his stand betray insufficient blind belief in and commitment toward a secessful reineactment of The Stoopid, such that when (if) state AG Cooper runs for governor, he can expect to pay for the sound sensibility of this position, just as we’re hearing about in West Virginia?

It makes a teasquat want to go to Chik-Fil-A and just cram sandwiches until they pass out.

Terrific news but astonishing. Next Negros will want to marry white women.

McCrory ran some very effective advertising, in my opinion. The commercial where he pretended to take credit for turning Charlotte into “an economic powerhouse”, misleading as it may have been, was the kicker.
Fortunately for us, he has an actual record to run on next time, and it’s not pretty.

Finally some commonsense has become the norm instead of the exception. Americans of both stripes have to accept that equality is the rule of this nation.

What gripes the cookies of the Far Right is that they’ve been fighting a losing game. They have staked their collective reputations on their ability to stop the “gay agenda” from getting their way on marriage. No longer will they feel that they are so privileged, no longer will they be able to think that they’re the deciders of who and what is marriage in this nation.

Now comes the hardest part of all, accepting the inevitable. Americans of all stripes must sit down and work on the ability to talk to one another and “listen” instead of just hearing. We have to join together and fight the common enemy, the oligarchs and plutocrats that make up the %1 of our nation’s elite. Together we can overcome the %1’s ability to dictate the direction and discourse of this nation.

NC is more like Virginia than West Virginia. It’s purple trending blue so it’s all about turnout.
