Governor Pence responded, ā€œWeā€™d rather hate homos than improve our stateā€™s economy.ā€

Hold it somewhere close to Vermont! I would love to attend!

Money talks, bullshit walks.

One of the detriments associated with a free market system, bitches.

Any good attorney could get out of that contract easily.

Break the contract! I would donate money to help cover the fees.

Iā€™m sure there are plenty of states that will gladly welcome the business.

I love that the Geeks (my people) are fighting the fight, but, shesh, they sound like Le Frog from ā€œFlushed Away:ā€

If you sign this bill, we shall leave . . .immediately!

What about the contract?

We leaveā€¦ in five years!

They need to have the courage of their convictions and move the convention. The passage of a state law that discriminates against your attendees is a substantial change in circumstances that justifies your breaking your contract and looking elsewhere.

Setting aside the Constitutional questions, which will eventually be confronted by the Supreme Court, the answer to laws such as this is obvious. If they donā€™t want people they hate around, then go somewhere else. I donā€™t advocate that solution for residents, but for conventions and voluntary situations, by all means take your dollars elsewhereā€¦to places where you are welcomed regardless of your religion, life style, or other discriminatory issues.

As for residents, itā€™s time for openly challenging these bigots. Show them there is a cost for treating you as second class citizens.

Man, I loved that line!

Gen Con is contractually barred from taking its convention anywhere else before 2021. By then, Mike Pence will be long gone from office, and this will be someone elseā€™s problem. Meanwhile, Governor Pence can reap the short-term political benefits of this pandering to his base.

I would argue that the implementation of that state law would invalidate the lease.

I think they should just assert a religous belief that it is wrong to transact with bigots.

Easily done.

Indiana: The chemical pollution high may be limited to Gary, but their gay hatred is statewide.

I believe it will be easy to get out of the contract and Gen Con should do so.

Iā€™m a Hoosier: I have had to suffer with that insufferable man as governor - he had the ego to believe that if he left a safe House of Reps seat, including in the higher reaches of the Rethuglican majority, for the governorship, that his party would turn to him in 2016. Not to be.

Pence: his visage reminds me of the speech by the ā€˜school marmā€™ in Blazing Saddles when, in referring to Gov LePetomane, she was also talking about Mike Pence: 'the biggest asshole in the territory!"

And Pence is saying ā€œIā€™ll be doing other things like Presidenting when the economic impact hits in 2021ā€.

Though I admire Gen Conā€™s statement, they are not dealing from any real position of influence on this idiot.
