Yes if only for the public airing of how the Reps were hiding the people’s business and obstructing justice and committing crimes on behalf of the president and Russians and compromised US assets. I don’t mind the move to be more transparent, but it would be nice if they could do it in such a way as to parade the bad Republican behavior in front of the public and make a public show of restoring it.
Nothing dems do will stop repugs from being horrible, vicious thugs.
Trying to “work with” criminals and traitors is JPS (just plain stupid).
Waytogo Dems! Now shoot yerselfs in the other foot!
PS: The People did not vote the democrats back into power so they (dems) cold be “classy”.
Drugs?
That’s not what I said.
The same process that got us Trump & GOP control of Senate & House? That process?
Its time the process was revamped in favor of, oh, say… truth and justice! Right now the process favors criminals and liars.
They can also drag out votes.
I look forward to continuing to work together in a bipartisan manner …
Continuing? I’m guessing he doesn’t get out much.
“Mr. Collins, where do you think you’ll get the votes to overturn the majority?”
Exactly, Nadler can SAY whatever he wants (to a point), I’m more concerned about what he DOES. It’s the same thing with how Pelosi claimed she’d work with the GOP to get things done. It was a for-the-cameras PR moment because she knows how much the feckless press gobbles that up. In reality, we’ve already seen her actions and she is OUT of patience for the GOP. She is done playing nanny, now she’s playing general
They still can. Any time Repubs rise a ruckus over some subpoena, Dems can preface every single one of their replies with…
“My colleague xxxx raises a relevant question over this subpoena that we can discuss, I’d like to take a moment to remind this body that this discussion is only possible because we have returned to bipartisanship on the subpoena process… when the Republicans held the house they chose to block Democrats from communications on the subpoena process.”
Repeat. Every. Time.
Impeachment starts in the Judiciary Committee. So I see this as a way to minimize Republican complaints when that comes to pass, and it will come to pass. Secondly, Democrats retain all the power anyway, so while it’s very magnanimous, I don’t think it’s a huge deal -though I’m not an expert on House rules.
While it seems Dems are always the reasonable party and making concessions, I’d hate to see the House governed the way it was under Ryan’s pathetic leadership the past two years.
I trust Pelosi on knowing when to lay the hammer down and when to hold back. She’s certainly proven herself to earn our trust.
We are the battered spouse in this relationship. Far too many of us think there’s good in the other side and if we just try harder we can make them better. The truth is they are abusers who go on power benders the moment they sniff compliance.
It reminds me of my mom growing up forcing me to attend anger management classes with her because I had grown old enough to punch my alcoholic drug-addicted stepfather back after years of one way traffic. She was so completely mind fucked at that point that she deemed us the issue. Not the drunk drug fuck who liked to hit. She reasoned if we, WE, the normal people just tried harder it’d all work out.
One night he beat her with the phone till she was a bloody mess then choked her with the cord till he though she was dead. He woke me, very proud of himself, and said to go say bye to her while the body was warm. He then went to the kitchen and made a snack, sat and ate it. I found her, hit the panic button and started compressions. The emergency services arrived within minutes, saved her, but he sat happy yet perplexed that such a fuss was being made and extremely confused on why she wasn’t dead as they cuffed him up. He kept muttering “she should’ve died, you don’t seem to understand.”
That’s most elected Washington Republicans and so many of our officials are the battered spouse.
"The move, first reported by Politico, to restore bipartisanship on the committee "
So you beat my ass,rob my house, take my car,and then you say let bygones be bygones.DEMs you really piss me off, "Mitch McConnell:
That they don’t work was the point of Mitch McConnell’s country adage that “there isn’t any education in the second kick of a mule.”
Nadler forget it !
See, America? We (excluding Republicans) are better than this! WABTT!
WABTT! + MAGA! = MABTTA!
Make America Better Than This Again!
I just love it when someone says “we are better than this!” It is so uplifting, or something.
Stupid Democrat mf’ers will never learn. Every time we’re fucked in the ass we bend over further an say “Please sir, may I have another?” This is how we consistently snatch defeat out of the hands of victory. We’re a fucking joke. We may call it magnanimity but it’s actually just fucking abject stupidity.
I empathize with your experiences. I have also thought Dems modeled this when they refused to stand up and push back on some things.
Recognize that analogies are rarely perfect. It is not possible to fully remove Republicans from the equation, One sensible option is to move forward in steps towards correcting their abhorrent behavior, work more with them when it makes sense and in other areas, refuse to let them come to the table until they’ve shown they’re adults. As in the SOTU.
Baby steps. But steps taken assertively and with clear understanding of boundaries. When (not if) they try to act like assholes and twist a process… step on them.
“Oh Granny, what big ears you’ve got!”
“All the better to hear you with, my dear!”
“Oh Granny, what big teeth you’ve got!”
“All the better to eat you with, my dear!”
Hey believe me. I want a functioning democracy. I would love a system that works. But that party is so fuckin broken at this stage they need to be decommissioned. Just ignore blowing an opportunity to have an adult conversation with America and it’s allies about how we should approach policy in other nation’s post 9/11 and instead start two wars. And use the more decent party members to make a bullshit case for two wars in a world stage and then have no fuckin plan beyond oil and mercenaries for once the wars were inevitability “won”.
Let’s ignore that Adminstration.
Let’s ignore them actively refusing to even conduct hearings for a sitting President’s SCOTUS appointment because with a year left he is a lame duck.
Let’s ignore the 8 years they actively…ACTIVELY. Participated in racism and othersum and fear mongering and all that other shit, to the point that their own party supporters can no longer tell truth from fiction and are walking into pizzerias to shoot people because of Pedophilia sex rings and denying that dead 5 & 6 year olds actually exist.
How many of them switched parties or went independent to protest Trump’s election and all the fuckin things since then he has done. How many of them stood up when they had something to actually lose to say…This isn’t right for our country. Mitch McConnell, Nunes, Rorbacher, not a peep from any Republicans. I will not be a part of this one could say…
I’m not using that analogy because of my past. The national republican party is fundamentally broken beyond repair. They answer not even to donors at this stage who want to cut taxes or bend regulations. They only answer to chaos, subversion and personal enrichment. They have at every level failed and any sort of concessions by Democrats is perceived as weakness.
I can only control what I do. I can’t and won’t control what the other guy does. If we both take the low road, then we’re all on the low road. Sorry but if you can’t see that, then you’re part of the problem.
You consistently ridicule Democrats for decency and fair-dealing. Why?
