Discussion: No Charges For Off-Duty St. Louis Police Officer Who Killed 18-Year-Old

Discussion for article #236539

It’s sad, but it has become almost impossible to trust that the outcome of such investigations is fair and impartial - too much impulsive shooting, too many planted weapons, etc.

“I know from working in the prosecutor’s office that the easiest thing for an officer to do is throw a gun on you, and I believe that’s the case here,” Christmas told The Associated Press. “The issue here is this: Whoever has control of the crime scene controls the narrative.”

If Mr. Christmas believes the scene was altered in any way, the burden of proof is on him. Personally, I have not been following this particular story–one of so many. However, if the initial investigation by Ms. Joyce proves to be thorough and fair, we need to be prepared for that outcome.

I am sorry for Mr. Myers’ family’s loss and their suffering. If the truth hasn’t been proved, I hope the family can somehow bring it to light.

The only sadness possible is for the loss of our own naivety; there’s nothing new in any of these actions.

So was the kid really armed or was it one of the guns some cops supposedly carry in case they shoot an unarmed person?
