Discussion for article #224223
I’ll bet that scared the crap out of him.
“The detective, who works as part of the narcotics unit…”
“The man who loves his job never works a day in his life, but might shoot himself in the restroom”
If people are properly trained in the use of firearms, accidents never happen. Therefore, guns can be made absolutely safe.
What?
This is a story, why, exactly?
Because guns safe.
I’m always astounded by the number of police officers, people who are actually (usually) well-trained in how to safely operate a gun, wind up accidentally shooting themselves or a loved one. If the most well trained gun owners among us often are unable to safely operate a gun, why is it any surprise that so many untrained gun owners wind up shooting people?
This is proof Police and LEO in general need to pass background checks and have their magazines reduced to 7 rounds like in New York. Moreover, we should deny them the use of assault weapons which is clearly intended for military purposes only. it’s the gun OK? The second amendment does not mention police only militia.
End of gun-o-phobic rant.
LMAO as the acronymically inclined would say. Any advice on getting the coffee outta my keyboard?

Nope, this is proof that guns are indeed a menace and that we should have some sort of test developed to determine if someone is competent and sane enough to own and handle a firearm.
That’s what this is proof of.
“Make sure this never happens again”…Good luck with that.
That’s why I’m not a journalist. I would write the headline thusly:
COP CAPPED IN CRAPPER
You’ve still got to actually follow the rules you’re trained in. You only have to be careless one time.
Uh, “the detective was either seated or about to sit when the gun went off” AND his gun was out of the holster at the time?
What, exactly, was he intending to shoot; the gun or…?
Yes, but was it in the penis?
There sane until they shoot someone, and then they’re not.
Isn’t that a part of human nature, though, to take shortcuts with training and safety regulations? If every human followed every safety regulation, wouldn’t car accidents be reduced by several thousand percent? It is simply outside the realm of human experience to expect strict adherence to safety regulations, and this event confirms that belief.
If the toilet had been sufficiently armed, it could have stopped the police officer from shooting himself.
If that cop had any stones at all he would have popped a cap in himself right out in public like any other gun not.
Not a journalist? The NY Post would pay cash money for headline writing like that!
