And he’s a coach, too???
What made this idiot think he could run for office and this wouldn’t be a problem?
Derp is a derp does.
So I take it you never did things you regret? As sjb1126mm said up thread had this fellow pointed out that he had made mistakes earlier in life but turned a new leaf since that things would have gone better for him. What this guy doesn’t need is to be excoriated by an unforgiving person.
Conduct becoming a Palin…
my singular pursuit has been to be a better person than what this report alleges," he said, according to My Central Jersey.
“alleges?”
Tourette’s Syndrome is a serious handicap running for office…
Well, he had me until the word “alleges.” And saying he’s better than the contents of “the report.” As if there is question of what he did and the standard of conduct is about what is in a report, not what’s socially acceptable.
I’m not entirely with you on that. Not one of us would like to be judged only according to the worst thing we have ever done. I have very little doubt that taking him as a whole rounded person, he is a much better man than the asshole that emerges from that report.
My problem with this is: how old was he at the time? It is one thing if you do this sort of thing when you are 15. If you are still doing it in your 20s, that is rather more of an issue.
Good point. I guess he’s making a point of saying “alleges” because otherwise if the charges turn out not to be true he could sue himself for defamation. You can’t be too careful!
I can see both sides here. The most upstanding people I know, people who’d all make excellent public servants, have done things that would embarrass them if made public. Very few folks haven’t, with the exception of people who are, in Mark Twain’s phrase, “virtuous to the point of eccentricity.” But racial and orientation slurs along with drunken mooning, man, if that’s not over the edge it’s awfully near it. I need forgiveness as a miserable sinner myself, we all do, but it’s just pretty yucky as a particular case.
Can’t hold his drink ?
Does he still beat his wife?
Not a Republican? Not a Southerner? I guess the heads at TPM are spinning and spewing green pea soup!
Not yet. But based on his qualifications, he really needs to move south and switch parties if he wants to get elected.
I trust you’ve noticed that he’s no longer the Democratic candidate for the borough council. That’s the difference between the two parties.
Alcohol removes your inhibitions. It doesn’t make you a different person.
If this is the new bar for New Jersey decency, they are gonna run out of qualified candidates pretty quickly.

Whiskey is a wonderful “lubricator” isn’t it?
I was thinking intoxicated.
