Discussion: Nip It In The Bud: DOJ Moves To Fast Track Appeal In Trump Emoluments Case

As long as they continue to use the word emoluments, it is way too abstract for the majority of the American public. Can we just say bribery instead?

Might as well skip all the interim steps, take it right to the Supreme Court.

Can skip that hearing as well, just issue the 5-4 vote supporting Trump that we all know is coming.

How is it that DoJ lawyers are acting as Trump’s defense? Shouldn’t the WH counsel or, better yet, Trump’s private lawyers be doing it (at his expense)?

Trump packed the corrupted court. They will let him off the hook with a 5-4 vote.

Remember all of those who said that the courts would protect us from the worst behaviors of the Trump administration? Well, that doesn’t seem to be working so well. . . .

“…thereby avoiding the need to address Plaintiffs’ novel Foreign Emoluments Clause claim…”

The only thing “novel” about the claim is that ANYONE in government is attempting to follow the rule of law, and forcing Trump to obey the laws and the Constitution!

If they can’t sue him, impeach him.

The Court hasn’t ruled yet.

Someday his base will finally wake and realize Don the Con would never allow them in the front door of his country clubs. In the meantime, he’ll pick their pockets clean.

In the short-term, it seems that he is going to get away with all of this, which is absolutely infuriating. I am hoping that, in the end, this goes the way of so many older horror films, and the villain is ultimately done in by his creation.

They wouldn’t be incorrect though. I dislike the court route, but Congress is useless. It is a sad state of affairs.

Regardless, the government slammed Sullivan’s ruling as “in substantial tension” with legal precedent.

“Congress can still vote on whether to consent or to withhold consent to the President’s alleged acceptance of foreign emoluments,” government attorneys argue. “If the President’s past alleged violations cannot be adequately remedied by congressional action now, it is not clear how this Court would be in a better position to provide a remedy.”

You know ‘government attorneys’ if you are successful with this then the emoluments clause goes bye-bye. Do Republicans really want to go down this road, give up this avenue to open investigations of a Democratic Pres?

Until SCOTUS is comprised of one Justice whose name is Kavanaugh who’ll do all the deciding, defeat is not at all on the horizon.

Let’s start calling it the Trump Court.

.CA. must have sent all of the Rednecks they could to TX. The disposition of liberals are different here than .CA. We are not as sunny. Some of my in-laws still live in Orange County, my brother in law was part of the SDS, in his day, the other is right wing nut, my sister in law, converted since Trump was elected.
Looking back there are two places I should have lived, So. CA and Denver.
