Hahaha! Great catch.

How long will it be before FOX and fiends’ start calling it …wait for it…wait for it…O-bola?

TPM’s headline itself is Bioterrorism.

The old “Some have suggested…” gambit seems eternally efficacious for those inclined to use it.

“Fox News” is a terrorism nation.

We already knew that.

I get frantic emails from relatives all the time about such scenarios. By now we should be a quivering mass of fear drenched protoplasm. But still, Ebola is a real candidate for weaponization esp. if the deliverer is ready to die. I’m sure the nut case extremists have salivated over such an attack.

Fox News in general:

We’re all going to die! Vote Republican.

Weirdest thing is, if a Republican were made President tomorrow all those “we’re all gonna die!” flavored emails would disappear and the entire population of the Right would be dancing a “freedom!” jig… until another Democrat takes office.

Chris Wallace via TPM: I also suppose if you’re going to do a bioterror weapon, Ebola isn’t the most effective one.

Disease is a crap weapon for terrorism. They’re good weapons for genocide (c.f., the Incas), but that’s about it. A terrorist wants massive death, and he wants it done rapidly, so it makes the news cycle with a high body count - bombs and gas. Disease takes days or weeks to incubate, longer to spread, and even longer to spread widely enough to make the news.

Fox’s fear-mongering on this topic isn’t just shameful - it’s demonstrably stupid.

I found myself explaining to my young daughter that before 9-11 all that was on TV News was the missing girl who had an affair with the congressman and shark attacks. There would literally by breaking news showing a helicopter following some shark around. This Ebola coverage is feeling a little like shark attacks now. The media doesn’t even care about ISIS anymore.

For it to be a candidate for weaponization, it would have to make the rather large genetic leap from being transferred by body fluids to being airborne. If you’re going to set up a Level 5 biolab and recruit microbiologist who specialize in gene splicing in order to genengineer an airborne version of ebola in the misguided belief that somehow a highly lethal airborne virus won’t circle back and kill your own people before the disease burns itself out, then it would be far easier, and more sensible, to refer to the published work on how to rebuild the Spanish Flu virus and set it free.

Granted, “Spanish Flu” doesn’t sound as terrifying as “Ebola” or “Anthrax” or “Bubonic Plague,” but the fact is that we were only a few weeks a way to a general societal collapse by the time it burned out in 1919. In several American cities they were digging mass graves and burying people in them without coffins or services. By the time the pandemic ended, it had transmitted itself to 30-50% of the human population with a fatality rate of 10-20% Ebola? Pfft.

Clearly the problem is Texas and Rick Perry who isn’t anywhere near the Ebolas as it turns out.
The southern border that allows in all shapes, sizes, variations and colors of terrorists is the Texan border. Plus, they lay down welcome mats in the sagebrush to greet the infected but not showing yet, marijuana bale carrying, job takers-not makers bio-lingual terror carriers.
Texas is the problem, no doubt. Their pigment free carcasses are just too susceptible to everything and they can’t fend for themselves. They want Obama’s help but are only willing to pay him $7.25 an hour for it and no bennies of course, plus he has to denounce his own Government and wear red-white and blue teabags, that’s all. And that will fix it and Rick Perry can stay in Iowa or the middle of no-where (same-same) forever, because what does he do anyways.

Texans, really proud but incapable of doing anything for themselves, that makes Texas sense I guess?

How the mind’s of the paranoid right-wingers work!

Good point. And Fox KNOWS about this paranoid nonsense floating around the ether and is cynically and irresponsibly exploiting it. They’re giving their viewers what they like to hear. Fox knows that people with such a world view need constant affirmation.

Mass ignorance propagated by Fox is a much greater threat
