Discussion: Nielsen's Deputy Resigns, Clears Way For Trump's Preferred Choice

“She has been an invaluable asset to DHS – a steady force and a knowledgeable voice.”

So, it logically follows we're kicking her overboard. For all the above reasons.

“Trump’s team seems to have been caught off guard by the procedural slip, and it may explain why Nielsen offered to stay on until Wednesday, while her original resignation submitted Sunday was effective immediately.”

So, prior stories hinting that Nielsen was quitting out of some sense of Trump’s “harder” direction for DHS being not “right” somehow and being a bridge too far for Nielsen were spin for her “future” outside of government. She proved to be a good soldier to the end albeit her name won’t be on any “new” directives going forward. “Integrity” and “class” …the hallmarks of the Trump (mis)Administration.

What purge? Says Donald. What desire to increase penalties? What intention to break the law? And don’t forget, Obama started separating children from parents at the border. Donald was the one who stopped that. (What court decision ordered him to stop it?)
He is beyond delusional. And beyond shameless. And ignorant. And malicious. Etc.

“Resigns” is one of this administrations favorite euphemisms.

But she clearly has no place in the Reichssicherheitshaupamt going forward, so we are glad to see the last of her.

Yet again I’m glad for the incompetence of the trump administration. If these guys could combine their treasonous desires with some basic competency, we’d be in way bigger trouble than we already are.

(cue dramatic music…)

*Trump shouts - "You’re Resigned!"

And while there is no bread served at this circus, the fans in the colluseum rallies go wild.

Correction… Claire Grady was fired. Forced out. This was due to the succession law in place at DHS. Grady was #2 …acting head in Neilsen’s absence. But the White House wanted their supplicant. They were ignorant, as usual, of how things were designed to work. Grady was fired on the grounds that trump wanted his guy who is ok with ignoring the law about asylum at the border.

We are in bigger trouble…
Absurd and idiotic as it appears there is a demented criminal vision to all of this
It vaguely follows elements of past strategy of Trump… he takes a large asset overwhich he has general operational control … ( but only fractional ownership). makes seemingly destructive & inept moves … plunges the asset in to total distress / bankruptcy / brink of destruction… invokes draconian measures to reorganize/ radically restructure … basically diluting the assets of all of the others who have ownership … and through manipulation gaining majority financial ownership and total dictatorial control.

We should be terrified … Trump is like a kidnapper … democracy is the kidnap victim … Trump has already injured and scarred the victim …when it gets to this point the kidnapper usually thinks there is no way they can ever turn back … and they kill the victim …Trump now thinks he must kill democracy to survive - and must stay in control … Trump will never give up the position willingly - unless granted asylum in Russia … and even then he will forever claim he was forced out by rebel criminals.

Grady was a career employee. She and her institutional memory are now gone.

Maybe not kill. I’m concerned that american democracy is starting to suffer from Stockholm syndrome.

We are becoming a nation of Patti Hearsts.

Trump’s team seems to have been caught off guard by the procedural slip

Pervasive, all-encompassing ignorance of all things is not a procedural slip.

With the assets still available, the American people can rid themselves of the Trump Administration next week.

The will is not there yet.

Barr’s burying the Mueller Report is useful, though bad. Bad because it draws out the Mueller Probe’s revelations.

Useful because more people can see the criminality of the Trump Administration. Also bear in mind that Barr is now linked to depriving health care for 20,000,000+ people…all the while saying on national television that he does not care.

Now, in some populations, this would be unacceptable…it remains to be seen if some political sleepyheads have the ability to wake up…

With the assets this country has to resist dictatorships, that is really all we need.

One other thing:

Dumping on the American People having the ability to get rid of Trump does not make the American People do what we want. And implying that the brave souls trying to animate the population to stop Trump are fools is, itself, the biggest fool’s errand imaginable.

Whole populations do not respond like individual trainees in Boot Camp.

Sure hope there are no Nat Security issues until 2021.

DHS Head- gone
DHS Deputy- gone
Sec Service Head- gone
ICE nom- gone
FEMA head- vacant
CBP head- vacant
CBP new officers- abysmal (7000 behind. That former CBP head did a great job)
DHS GC- on the block (rumored)
USCIS head- on the block (rumored, but “not resigning”)
Coast Guard Commandant- nominated, presumed incumbent

According to CNN, Trump recently “empowered” Stephen Miller to lead the administration’s border policies and Miller is starting out with “what amounts to a wholesale decapitation” of the Department of Homeland Security leadership.

God help the Republic.

I don’t think I was dumping…I said I am concerned. The drip, drip…inch, inch method of tearing down the government IS very concerning. Between people focused on their own, personal issues and the need to not be perceived as having “Trump Derangement Syndrome,” I am concerned.
