Rich Lowry, of all people, had a good crack about Gingrich the other day. Said if you shook Newt awake at 3 a.m. and told him Trump had proposed nationalizing the banks, Gingrich could give you “a five-minute riff on how it has always been the policy of the future and the country is lucky to have such a radical agent of change.”
Old Newt is selling fear like he’s done this before. He’s making out like if Trump isn’t the President we will have a nuclear war - what a crock of shit. He’s always the shameless huckster.
If a delegate votes against Trump it’s marked down as a vote for Trump anyway.
“Gingrich Tries To Make Peace After Ted Cruz’s Huge RNC Bomb.”
Newt: “Can’t we all just get back to hating minorities?”
And a WMD will go off in your city because of ObamaClinton. Always the shameless grifting bloviator.
TPM:
Newt Gingrich Tries To Make Peace After Ted Cruz’s Huge RNC Bomb
… After a non-endorsement from Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) drew persistent boos Wednesday night from an irritable Republican National Committee crowd, Newt Gingrich made an off-the-cuff effort to get the evening back on track.
You know you’re in a bad place when Newt Fucking Gingrich is the peace-maker carrying your olive branches.
Funny thing here is the rationale: Trump is not enough of an extremist. He’s too liberal!
I’ve always thought Cruz was the most dangerous Republican on the national stage, in part because everyone in Congress loathes him. Pains me to say it but I think he might have done what he did just because he didn’t think he could look himself in the mirror tomorrow if he didn’t. I don’t think he believes a word of his pandering nods to teh gayz, etc, but the fact that he said it all on national television makes him accountable in 2020 in a way no other GOP coward/quisling has made himself yet.
So the old suck up tries to paper over the actions of the most hated U.S. Senator. No news here.
It’s my understanding that sCruz can’t see his reflection in a mirror.
When Newt Gingrich has to play the adult in the room you know that shark hasn’t just been jumped it’s been hurdled.
Gingrich continued: “So, to paraphrase Ted Cruz, if you want to protect the Constitution of the United States, the only possible candidate this fall is the Trump-Pence Republican ticket.”
and in the Mark Antony role…well I was wrong again.
Hope may not yet be completely bludgeoned by experience; on the rare occasion I can think the best of a Republican with whom I share not one single principle, value, or idea? Mostly I try to go with it.
