Wow, I hadn’t seen just how bad it was. They didn’t even nominate any person of color. From the looks of the pictures it looks like they didn’t even nominate any tan white folks.

As a black man, I can admit that we’ve been holding down old, white men too long. We need to do more for old, white men.

Silly nonsense. There’ve been years where two or three of the Best Actor nominees have been non-white - and that’s in one category. Other than Oyelowe’s performance, there weren’t any visible minorities with roles that should have put them in Oscar contention.
If you want to blame casting, maybe you have an argument. Who would - who could be nominated? Chris Rock? Denzel Washington? Idris Elba? All had starring roles but none of them were considered any more Oscar caliper than Chris Pratt or Chris Evans.
Next, you’ll say the Oscars are unfair to yellow people since neither The Lego Movie nor The Simpsons Movie got nominations.

Is there a particular performance that was overlooked? I don’t think so. Hollywood might be a strange place, but I hardly see it as a place that made some kind of concerted effort to nominate only white people. Reese deserves to win, in any case.

I haven’t seen it, but I understand that the actor playing MLK in “Selma” was brilliant. Given that ‘Selma’ is close to ‘100%’ on Rotten Tomatoes, perhaps the director should have gotten a nod too.

I agree, though, that black actors are not given enough good roles in Hollywood. BTW, the Lego Movie was robbed too.

How GOPish of them. I guess at least Hollywood never openly declared that they were reaching out to minorities whilst they totally undermined minorities, so they’ve got that going for them.

Personally, watching overpaid, overrated people celebrate themselves turned me off at about age 10.
There is no contractors hall of fame or awards show and we have busted ass for many decades to become professionals. We all should celebrate ourselves and quit supporting the least deserving amongst us. That’s my two cents worth.

THIS is why I no longer go to the movies or watch TV shows. The small and big screens are WAY too white. And it’s not that there aren’t great minority actors/actresses out there for the reason whites dominate the Oscars or get lead roles.
