Discussion: Newspaper Regrets Calling Obama An 'Assclown' Over Selfie-Stick Video

Discussion for article #233331

This wouldn’t happen if any of these idiots thought of Obama as our president.

On Tuesday morning, the caption now read: “A fool-proof way to make yourself look like a self-absorbed celebrity.”

Writing the above caption is a truly foolproof way to make yourself look like a humorless moron who is far too lazy to bother with context.

No.

It doesn’t.

But it is happy to have the publicity for badboy behavior.

Winners win because they have goods the losers don’t: The knowledge of how to win now, the skills to win now, and the will to win now. The race is long over and PBO is still winning. And the dying print media is still dying.

Is that why these things are called “guilty pleasures”?
You know it’s not right or good for you, but you just can’t resist and “regret” it afterwards – over and over again?

Was that guy thinking he was making fun of Obama? Because I’m pretty sure Obama doesn’t actually use a selfie-stick and that was just a joke. Some people REALLY need to stay away from humor until they learn to understand it better.

A very good and not stressed enough point.

I have been listening to BaggerHumour for years.

They can’t really DO humour.

Sports producer, and noted self-absorbed assclown Kevin Cusick, who was responsible for the caption…

There fixed that job title for you.

Really…the sports producer? I know the Pioneer Press has fired most of their newsroom…but we’re down to the sports section doing celebrity and political news now?

“I must have been in an especially foul mood last night,”

You might say he had a real selfie stick up his ass.

And we deeply regret if anyone took offense.

Of course nobody at The St. Paul Pioneer Press newspaper ever fooled around for laughs.

That’s what I find so funny about this little dust up. Obama was clearly poking fun at people who take selfies too seriously. That whole point was to pretend to be an assclown. That this dumbass didn’t understand that and immediately succumbed to his obviously rabid ODS makes him the only assclown in the situation.

Well…this what they used to call a “cheap shot”. Looking anywhere…anyway for something negative to say. And like a lot of cheap shots it was followed by a cowardly walk-back in order to save face. I’m sure when President Bush pulled stunts like this our sports reporter lauded him as “being in touch with the people” or “down to earth”.

These people don’t “get” self-effacing humor. To them it’s a sign of weakness.

They also don’t get the fact that it is because of the mainstream media’s refusal to report on the substantive aspects of the ACA – they only focus on the “controversy” – that Obama is forced to resort to nontraditional means of outreach – like he successfully did last year on that goofy cable TV show.

The video was part of a lead in to a ACA enrollment promo. It was intended to be fun and nothing more. President Obama is rather young in so far as Presidents go so we shouldn’t expect too much old fogy stuff from him. This was a scripted video bit that was made for TV promotion of the ACA. It was not a a video of the President caught being himself but one of him acting out a role written for the video.

“Sports producer Kevin Cusick, who was responsible for the caption…”

The context was that he was too busy thinking about how the Sunday stats affected his fantasy football team to even wonder about the purpose of the photo.

What are you saying? They peaked in high school. How apropos
