Yes. That was when people connected to the NRA figured out that by spreading this kind of rabid fear, it could be used as another fundraising arm for Republican candidates. Do we have any indication who those masterminds were?

More likely the publisher wanted such editorials killed without any culpability on the part of the publisher. It wasn’t killing the story that got the editor fired, it was killing the publishers ability to deny she had anything to do with it.

It is lost - we aren’t living in an Age of Reason. We’re living in a Dionysian Age, where emotion, drama and belief are ascendant and reason is not valued by a large percent of the population.
