Another one of these cases where somebody is about to go to press to make a public accusation against a person in a position of power, and yet mysteriously commits suicide.

Hmmmm, it seemed to be a very quick judgment that it was a suicide. I hope it was investigated as thoroughly as possible.

Nauseating - genuinely deeply disturbing to consider - not that there are veins of hate - but that these veins are so cynically & opportunistically being not-so-subtly mined in a state gubernatorial campaign … and that the victim had nowhere to seek justice.

Jewish ancestry but attended an Episcopal church

or a Roman Catholic church for that matter is not unusual. It’s the heritage of being Jewish that one is either proud or ashamed of. Very sad news all around.

Something about this story does not sit well. However, if what this newspaper reporter is saying is true, the Republican Party of Missouri will be in the hot seat for awhile. A lot more digging for facts is required here.

Baruch hashem!

And: OMG! There are anti-Semites in the Republican Party! Who would have guessed!!! Just because they are the party of racism, homophobia, Islam bashing doesn’t necessarily mean they are the party of the most virulent anti-semites–but they most certainly are!

It doesn’t sound to me like a typical suicide…especially if he called the reporter right before hand and said he was going public.

Republican anti-semites? I thought this was the party that loved Israel! But maybe Jews not so much.

Antisemitism and bigotry in general are the reason the “Base” exists. It’s a great excuse for ignorant, anhistorical morons to get together and decry the loss of the “good old days.” Like the 1950s, when homosexuals could be jailed and it was illegal for whites and blacks to intermarry. Old, perhaps, “good”? Not so much…one can only hope that this sort of prejudice will die soon. Sadly, many of these fools have already reproduced, and are busy inculcating such attitudes in their offspring.

The Danforth/Talent segment of the Missouri GOP had been challenging the Ashcroft forces with Schweich as their gubernatorial primary candidate versus Ashcroft’s Catherine Hanaway.

Apparently, when all else fails for the Far Right they use that Old Time Religion as a club against strong opponents and antisemitism if that doesn’t work. I think this suicide just might kill Jack Danforth…or make him so angry that he’ll make it is final act in life to take down John Ashcroft once and for all.

Whatever else is exposed, at least we can be sure that people of good faith will be horrified by what has happened as a result of Republican dirty tricks and vote their conscious if not their anger against whatever GOP candidate that runs for governor in 2014. There is a former Navy Seal who is expeced will step into the race against Hanaway. State GOP Chairman Hancock better think twice about trying to smear him.

Supposedly his wife heard him on the phone making phone calls and then heard a shot.

isn’t jewish lineage determined by whether the mother is jewish…
i have no doubt there was a whispering campaign by hancock. his ‘denial’ was extremely mealy-mouthed.

Antisemitic ism is alive in the Republican party in MO, else why would one embark on a whisper campaign making it an issue? Why would one make it an issue unless there are antisemetic bigots among Republican voters?

Republicans need to own this problem along with their racism and how it plays for them in elections. I’m talking to the non bigot Republicans as well as the bigots.

Let’s keep the focus on the real issue here-anti-semiticism in the Republican party and hold Republicans who use it responsible for their bigotry.

This story doesn’t pass the smell test. The fact that some Republican asshole was conducting a whisper campaign against him because his grandfather was Jewish doesn’t lead anybody to suicide in 2015, even uptight conservatives in Missouri. There is much more to the story. Somebody needs to dig. Too bad we don’t have real reporters or detectives in this state.

Jesus dude, all they wanted you to do was wear a yellow Star of David patch. Hardly something to whack yourself over .

And the “whisper campaign” John Hancock has already admitted to it. Does that qualify as fact for you?
