What I read was he has an interesting habit of buying NYC properties for cash, like a few million, then taking out a mortgage on the building and selling it. It makes sense if you have a lot of money to launder. But there could be another, more innocent reason—maybe he just likes initialing mortgage documents or something. It’ll be interesting to hear his explanation.
That’s a perfectly cromulent explanation. I’m satisfied…that Mr. Schneiderman is a bulldog, as is Mr. Vance. This ain’t over yet.
It’s through NY AG Schneiderman’s investigation that the number of defendants in this case will exceed 70…probably even 100. Schneiderman and Bharara will roll up the entire DT business enterprise, RU mob and anything in-between. It’s all because of the Trump’s Razor approach to doing business.
A spokesperson for Manafort told the publication that any leaks about ongoing investigations would be a “crime.”
I am sure the publications are curled up in a fetal position, quivering with fear.
Yeah, maybe the publications oughta lawyer up.
Yup. He followed Money Laundering 101.
Manafort’s New York City transactions follow a pattern: Using shell companies, he purchased the homes in all-cash deals, then transferred the properties into his own name for no money and then took out hefty mortgages against them, according to property records.

Who is going to break it to PP that he can’t fire the NY AG or the Manhattan DA?
Somebody should explain to Manafort that Gorsuch isn’t available to hear his case.
Ten’ll get you twenty they just lie to him and prepare a memo to justify it.
He’ll talk to the CEO of NY. Isn’t that Rudy?
Yes: “My hobbies include recreational mortgage closings–Love 'em!”"
~No one, ever.
No Rudy’s going to be FBI director…
Wait–
He’s not.
Why?
It’s been rumored that the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York, which has jurisdiction over Trump Tower, was investigating numerous shady real estate transactions that took place there. So he was fired.
I’m sure that immediately put an end to those investigations. NOT!
And the noose tightens.
Couldn’t the laughing chimp be allowed to make just one appearance at this juncture?
@irasdad I New York, the Bronx is up the Battery’s down. people ride in a hole in the ground.
Not funny enough yet. Needs seasoning.
That’s how you make Lawyer of the Year.
They’ll drag in the First Amendment Responder.
@epicurus It was Schneiderman who forced trumPP to ante up $25 million for the TrumPU fraud, the plaintiffs got about 90 cents on the dollar, and their lawyers waived their fees. A job well done, I’d say.
