Discussion: New York Daily News Cover After San Bernardino: 'GOD ISN'T FIXING THIS'

Spot on! ___ It all boils down to the pretzel logic that cowardly and pandering Republican political scum sell their ‘base’ of low/no information Baggers and Cons: “Banning abortions will stop abortions…BUT…no gun law will do anything to help stop gun violence.”
~and the Baggers and Cons cheer wildly!~

And no ‘thoughts and prayers’ meme would be complete without America’s top God-fearin’, Christian Conservative Republican Betty Bowers weighing in:

Thanks Betty!

As the old saying goes, “Nothing fails like prayer.” It’s about time a major media outlet was brave enough to challenge the “Our prayers are with the families…” nonsense…

They could spare some of the thoughts as well because they’re usually along the lines of how much we can take away from Americans and make their lives more miserable and somewhat poorer.

Leave it to the republicans to ring the doorbell and drop a burning bag of shit on God’s doorstep.

I’ll just leave it with this:

I see a man and a father and a husband and an anguished president. He cannot solve those things which make our country just a little more unliveable every day because he will receive no cooperation from political representatives who could but won’t join in the effort to do so.

Well done!

Every single “news” paper should be printing the exact same headline.

I know it is theologically difficult for fundamentalists like Cruz, Huckabee and the rest to understand, but the “God” that they are “praying” to keep us safe is THE EXACT SAME GOD that ISIS prays to when they behead an “Infidel” or shout “allahu akbar” during a terrorist attack.

THE. EXACT. SAME. GOD.

And guess what…ISIS probably “prays” harder than you do, Teddy.

The hell with EVERY organized religion and the hell with “God”:

I wonder why people who think government can’t solve problems want the top government job. Consider Ted Cruz, for example. His only expertise is shutting down the government. I don’t think he has ever worked with any other legislators to address a problem and come up with a solution. Praying is OK for truly hopeless situations, but when political leaders turn to prayer instead of action, it means they themselves don’t believe in government. So why are they running for the top job of something they don’t believe in?

Because they want to dismantle government from the positions that can do it.

And … in midterms, we get clobbered, either because we don’t think it’s important or because we get so discouraged about what’s happening in Washington that we think it’s not worth our while.

Democratic candidates need to give their voters a reason to come out and vote by talking about issues like jobs, equal pay, and the minimum wage. Educate and .Encourage voters to show up at the polls by demonstrating that they just have just as much at stake in a midterm election as they do in a presidential year.

In the same way angry-appearing republicans exhort their base to come out and vote so stuff including guns won’t be taken away by those pesky Democrats, our side must do something similar. Raise voices, grab people’s attention, keep up the drumbeat, though how to do it is still up for debate when the public does not tune in until very late in the election cycle. Fox News grabs the R voters early and keeps them.

Lots of good things in this post.

For me, what I am taking from it the most is the part, “Help Take Up The Fight”.

For the 60% of the electorate who will not vote…the Roberts SCOTUS is looking at a case which may make your lack of voting academic by skewing representation such that it won’t matter.

Because of my particular background (having SEEN people die trying to vote), I have always held two sets of people responsible for EXTRICATION OUT OF our predicament, by virtue of what is expected of them.

(1) The MSM, which is Criminally Negligent. The Fourth Estate should exist to inform the people

(2) Non-voters. Voting is both a right and a duty

now that’s what I would call a front page bitch slap…

. . . And an overdue acknowledgment that God is not helping out on this one. He must be busy helping those who are actually trying to help themselves.

The News occasionally goes into tabloid-land (certainly not like the NY Post, of course), but they are always right-on with gun control.

Like registering to vote and voting Republicans out of office.

What many people do not understand is that the protests, demonstrations and marches of the 1960s were done, in many instances, under the following conditions:

(a) In conjunction with OBTAINING the right to vote (particularly for minorities)

(b) In conjunction with voter action by those POSSESSING the right to vote

Protesting and then going back to sleep is less than half of what we need.

Please tell me who came up with that so I can give proper credit when I constantly quote it over the rest of my lifetime!
