Discussion: New Polls: Majorities Blame Trump And GOP For Shutdown, Oppose Border Wall

You’re taking your numbers from this with a small variation, right?

My daughter just texted that she had a new pizza called Spicy Motherclucker.

I love DC.

The polls will turn uglier for the Republicans if the market shaves off about a thousand points or more this coming week.
Especially if they blame the uncertainty caused by the shutdown. People are feeling optimistic now that we are off the lows. A lot of options will expire next week by Friday, it could be a bumpy ride. Not making any calls or predictions. The big banks and Alcoa kick off earnings Tuesday and Wednesday.

As much as I like Bogdanovich’s films, the stage play was what you had to see. Don’t think I’ve ever laughed as hard at any stage production.

Remember I was kvetching about my short-term bond investment? It’s still bleeding but worse.

I figured the bond market was going to turn when I read this ten days ago.:

Sounds like there’s mixed news, some hopefulness even.

Mitch McConnell…Russian Agent

What if, in 1962, JFK said to the nation:

“Look…the Russians aren’t so bad. Just look at things from their point of view. Let’s try to get along. Why keep secrets between friends?”

Because McConnell is wholly protected by the rules, protocol and norms of the United States Senate, he does not come across the same as Nikita “We-Will-Bury-You” Khrushchev.

But he is worse for at least three reasons

  • A significant percentage of Americans support McConnell…much more than with Khrushchev
  • McConnell is a stealth enemy who is INSIDE the apparatus of the United States government
  • A significant percentage of the Press (and just about all of Fox “News”) supports McConnell or, at worst, treating him like any other conventional politician

Missed this today. Charlie got 12,000 likes:

Josh Hawley in MO got more tainted money. The rot runs deep.

Great news. Touches on so much of what is important in this situation and era.

Rasmussen hasn’t spammed the aggregate with a half-dozen internet polls, yet. Wait 'til tomorrow. It’ll be back up to 43%.

That’s why I like to go to the Huffington Post aggregate where I can pull Rasmussen out of the pile…

I read this article on politico. What’s missing from this poll article is this: Polling republican voters showed republicans support increasing for Trumps position on the Wall.shutdown. GOP base is all these Republicans in the Senate and Trump care about.

He’s trying to become the republican Al Gore. Uh.

He is just trying to change his so unfortunate face.

@teenlaqueefa - I want the full story regardless. I already think Obama fucked up. I just keep it to myself since he can’t go back and change it.

I am agnostic on that question. I think the wisest position is for us all to evaluate the evidence as it is, to be as clear-eyed as possible (given the limits of human insight and judgement), do what we can to encourage the best outcome, and see how it turns out before we decide.

Who was suggesting giving up?
