Discussion: New Poll: Trump's Numbers Underwater In The Great Lakes States

I have said it before. The Dems hurt themselves with the failed recall attempts a few years ago. Since moving out there four years ago, I have spoken with more than a few voters who wouldn’t vote for Christ himself were he running as a Dem.

There is a lot of frustration with Walker today: FOXCONN is not making him look as good as he’d like and gutting the UWis budget has not helped either.

November could be big in Wisconsin. Our gov primaries are next month and there must be eight candidates on the Dem side,

More, really. The goal was to use Hillary’s stolen analytics to suppress her voters. It worked.

Money is speech, and the Koch cartel spoke a lot about Walker.

Buyer’s remorse.

These 36-36-38 approval ratings are likely among Rethugliklan voters. But with Rethugliklans making up, say, 50% of the voters in those states, that translates to really, really dismal numbers. (I’ll leave the actual math to somebody else.)

Couldn’t happen to a nicer despot. Let’s hope that in the next couple of months he can get his approval even lower and drag the rest of the Guardians Of Pedophiles down with him. He’s working on it.

Note to Rethugliklans: Y’all gonna need a bigger snorkel.

But did he actually win anything fair and square? It’s safe to say that remains an open question when you factor the tireless machinations of former Waukesha County Clerk Kathy Nickolaus into the equation.

Even the Bribes to the farmers have a bad taste for supporters.

Polls of the 2016 general election performed quite well, only a few percentage points off of the final result and well within the margin of error. Anyone who tells you otherwise is an idiot or is trying to sell you something, sometimes both.

You’re welcome to disregard the data because you feel like it, but that’s usually more of a Republican thing.

I’m wondering if anyone feel ashamed or stupid for voting Trump.

Hell, I knew better. I love and care for my country too much to give that jackass any dominion over me or to manage our Federal Government.

Hopefully, they have learned from this horrible experiment. A real POTUS, does require a real brain, and an intellectual one at that!

Well, if this is like everything else the House GOP does, it’ll blow back in their faces again. These people are are not the highest primates on the evolutionary tree.

Trump and Republicans should feel panicked about their standing in this trio of key states.

This was a sweet, tasty afternoon morsel of schad. Hmmm.

As he retreats further and further into the Fox News bubble it is only going to get worse for him and Republicans generally. There just aren’t enough Fox News junkies to power him through and the blue wave is building.

Plenty of Democrats were guilty of wishfully misreading the polls in 2016. We should be highly skeptical of polls now and in Nov.

Idiots. They’re just idiots.

“It is a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.”

What a perfect description of the Freedumb Caucus’s blathering.

I read polls with three guiding ideas in mind.

  1. The November elections are midterms. Partisans turn out at midterms. People who approve of Trump/GOP one minute and disapprove of him the next are probably not going to turn out in any case.

  2. The partisan nature of contest gives Democrats a crucial advantage that isn’t measured by approval polls. Dems will not only crawl over broken glass to vote, they’ll eat glass.

  3. There will be a blue wave, whatever the polls say. Dems have consistently won special elections at times when Trump enjoyed (relatively) high approval.

Basically, it’s nice to have good polls, but it doesn’t change anything. There will be a blue wave. The only thing that can stop it is cheating/rigging. That is what I think about. Not Trump’s approval ratings as they go up and down.

Most likely because they won’t believe Trumpet until the check arrives and clears the bank.

I mean, would you?

We shouldn’t count our chickens but these numbers feel better than the polls in 2016. The thing to keep in mind is while Trump was the least popular Presidential candidate of all time, Hillary was the second least popular Presidential candidate. A lot of Democrats never really understood the depth of that unpopularity.

Right. There will be peel off. I don’t think the base is as monolithic as the myth says they are.

We should be much more skeptical of our wishful thinking than we should be of data that objectively did a very good job of predicting the result.

If you’re looking to throw out bathwater, fine, but if you could know and pay attention to only one thing about the 2016 election in order to understand it, it wouldn’t have been the horserace reporting, it wouldn’t have been the candidates, it wouldn’t even have been the economy or whether we were at war, it would have been the polls.

The all-important Lutheran vote

I saw a poll sometime in the last 10 days that showed voter enthusiasm among GOP voters is down, especially women.
