Not really. The 600 sample size is a bit on the small side, but the fine print doesn’t seem out of line. The real problem is with this one and the Ras poll is they are being conducted during a time when she is getting showered with coverage, and Braley is hardly being mentioned. Let the bump from winning the primary level out, a debate or two, and the inevitable barrage of TV ads and she is going to be heading south of 40%
Well, that is what RCP does anyway. Silver applies a filter, or a weight, based on viability of the poll and the polling organization. That cuts down on no-nothing groups running bad polls just to try and sway the aggregators. Which is more or less what this polls is.
I’m thinking much the same thing as others here. If I were the Republican and I only had a 6 point lead at this point, I’d be really nervous. Lots of things can happen between now and election day. A good Democratic debate performance might do the trick. Get this within a couple of points, then spend some money on a GOTV effort.
Iowa is going the way of Nebraska which has gone the way of Kansas, etc. The adherents of Christian Dominionism have methodically taken over all these prairie states. So far, Minnesota has managed to resist the zealotry. For now.
I am so old I remember when politicians where respected for their mastery of the complexities of public policy.
Now they get elected on trite, stupid references to castrating pigs. It’s been painful to watch the, slow, steady
dumbing down of an entire nation
Come on, Farmer Bruce. You can do better than this. Braley must be concerned to resort to misogyny so early in the campaign.
hey Guys!!!
watch you Junk!!!
She love’s to cut them off!!!
ugh!
She has sucked all the media oxygen out of the room and yet rasmueason has the race at a dead heat. The real question is does the democrats have the nut sack to go after she her lunacy
IOWA, learn a lesson from your neighbors to the east, Wisconsin. Going Republican is REALLY stupid. Emulate your neighbors to the north, Minnesota. Vote Democrat!
I think wigs in washington are against the law.
Braley can now hammer this tea bagger with the facts that he supports privatizing social security and medicare. Oh, and Braley and the press need to have her elaborate over and over how SHE KNOWS THERE WAS WMD IN IRAQ. She is your typical bagger nut case.
exactly. Braley campaign should start hammering her on her support to: privatize social security and medicare. She is against public education. She is against raising the minimum wage. Against paycheck fairness (I’m sure she would be willing to make less than her male Senators…wink, wink). She also says she KNEW THERE WAS WMD IN IRAQ. She is another Bachmann, Palin clone. In otherwords, she’s a nut job. So all those GOP seniors who want there medicare and social security privatized…go for it, brilliant to vote against your own self interests. And as far as Braley’s knock against Pull the Plug on Granny and I’m no nail Grassley …he’s right. Grassley needs to go as well…he can take the millions in farm subsidies he and his family have racked up over the years and retire.
Voting against there own self-interest is often expressed in mid-America. Maybe by November they will actually listen to the twaddle coming from that woman’s mouth.
It’s obviously going to come down to who’s got the better campaign. If the Democrats continue their hands-off, no hitting below the bely sparring, they’ll lose races like this. If her positions are truly off-putting to Iowans, Braley has to tell people what they are. If he doesn’t, he’ll lose.
Voters don’t lose races like this, candidates (and party leaders) do. Voters everywhere are capable of electing monumental clods and asses. New Yorkers elected Alfonse D’Amato; Massachusetts elected Scott Brown. Californians elected Schwarzenegger twice. Blaming the voters distracts from the real problems, which can be any combination of inadequate candidates, poor campaigns, and unpopular national leadership…
