Iowa Republican “Yes, there are some stupid Iowans but he didn’t mean me!”

I love the smell of Republican fratricide in the morning.

Well, they are Iowans so they do have to be reminded a few times.

And this is supposed to make them like Cruz ? I doubt that will work…

New Cruz Ad Reminds Iowans About That Time Trump Called Them 'Stupid'

And then Cruz asks them to prove it by voting for him.

Trump meant ‘stupid’ as a compliment to all of his supporters.

I was wondering when Cruz would get around to this. Somebody had to bring it up.

Yep, Trump’s voters will nod their heads in agreement and say, “He’s right! Cruz wasn’t even born here!” If someone tries to point out the fact that Trump is calling them stupid, they’ll angrily disagree just as they do when someone points out that Republicans are talking about them when they rail against people on public assistance.

Thing is, though, Trump wasn’t calling the people of Iowa stupid. He was using a rhetorical question to point out how stupid Carson was. He just elided the “does he think” from “How stupid does he think the people of Iowa are?” If Carson says that the Pyramids were built by Joseph to store grain, the first thing one thinks is, “How stupid does he think people are?” Most of what Carson has said falls into this category.

So once again Cruz is just lying, distorting, and spinning in a vain attempt to try to get some traction. How stupid does he think the people of Iowa are?

"“How stupid are the people of Iowa?” We will soon see.

As if the last several national election cycles haven’t answered that question!

It won’t work with the Trumpbots because they don’t care. However, all it has to do is get some of the 65-70% of voters who are not supporting Trump to vote for someone else.

Cruz realizes that this is a long contest and if Cruz wins Iowa by a single vote, Trump will become unglued which can only benefit Cruz.

Cruz’s slogan, as seen in the ad: TRUSTED.

Hey Cruz, you misspelled truss.

I think Trump’s bombastic personality inoculates him from this type of attack to a degree. Unlike Candidate Obama who got excoriated for his clinging to guns and religion comment, because people understand he’s a smart, nuanced, thoughtful guy.

Just stop for a minute and remember: all the “insider” talk about Ted Cruz is that he’s just waiting for Donald Trump to make some ridiculous mistake THIS YEAR (if not last year, 2015), and destroy his own campaign, with his own big dumb mouth.

But the awful truth (for Ted Cruz, and possibly for all of us) is that Donald Trump has NOT yet made his horrible (politically) fatal mistake yet! And it’s been, what, six months of Trump-mania, so far?

Ted Cruz has now realized he will have to go way back into Trump’s past, in the public archives to find a mistake Trump made YEARS AGO that MIGHT affect him in 2016, in this campaign.

Ted Cruz’s big mistake (so far) is in underestimating this billionaire blowhard. Ted Cruz should take a lesson from (the very wealthy, but now deceased) Merv Griffin, who dealt successfully with Mr. Trump many years ago, and just ignored all the bluster and went on to outmaneuver him on real estate dealings.

I disagree with this statement. I think Cruz did a good job estimating how much of a pompous buffoon Trump is. That is why he played nice with Trump for all those months knowing Trump is nuts and would derail himself.

Where Cruz went wrong was he overestimated the intelligence of the average Republican voter. Any thinking person would have kicked Trump to the curb months ago. The fact that they haven’t says nothing about Trump. Trump is right, he could kill someone and not lose a single vote. His supporters really are that stupid.

My first take was Trump was including Carson AND the folks in Iowa in that “stupid” comment of his:

To me it’s a very edgy thing to say when running for high office. I know folks in Iowa who were offended by his choice of words.
That Carson said the Pyramids were grain storage sites and then to double down on the comment shows his stupidity. For me it’s hard to accept that anyone would think his belief to be logical …especially when there is solid evidence of where the ancient Egyptians kept their grain (not in pyramids)

I agree and find that a frightening thought. … That there are people out there driving, walking around and AGREEING with what trump said. I would not put it past some nimnull to actually shoot someone to see what the effect would be. Now Trump may have been joking like he said (I don’t believe that) but he likely could do so.
