From personal experience those type of blocks are window dressing, this is a temp solution at best. Had five/six of them in front of my office building entrance a few years ago. A couple ended up in the lobby one morning when a pickup truck on snow plow duty slide on the ice. One block was about 25 feet in and only came to a stop when it hit the elevator doors. To do the job correctly security of this type needs to be secured in place, the best way is to place 6/8 inch pipe about 4 foot into the ground, spaced about 4 foot apart along the length of the building. If done correctly is not an eyesore.
