Discussion: New Battleground Polls: Clinton's Lead Shrinks Or Disappears In 4 Swing States

I’m really not understanding the dynamics driving her slump in the polls, here. Trump continues to be a human tire fire. He stuck to the teleprompter what, for part of one day a week or two back, and various potentates are patting him on the head and talking about how presidential his new persona is? And now he’s back to humping Putin’s leg and making hate word salads on live television. And she… Something something emails in the New York Times? Is that it?

Makes me wonder how much of this election is being fought outside of traditional media channels, in the airless, lightless vacuum of a hundred million Facebook feeds that only truthiness can penetrate…

I guess it’s time to get all state Democratic Parties out there and tying ever single ass-in-nine thing HO says to each and every Republican candidate running. No time for precision targeting carpet-bomb every single one.

With third party candidates included in the new poll, Trump has a wider lead in the Buckeye state, 41-37, followed by Libertarian Gary Johnson polling at 14 percent and Green Party’s Jill Stein at 4 percent.

I don’t know that it’s surprising the polls have tightened up, but it is troubling to see so much of her lead just fall away. To me, it looks like the 3rd party candidates are impacting Clinton more than they are Trump. Hopefully, the debates will help turn this around.

No matter how we want to spin it, this is going to be the narrowest of wins–if indeed we do win at all. No flipping the Senate. No flipping the House. Gaining no ground in State races. Continual obstruction and 4 years of hearings in an attempt to destroy Clinton. Nothing that she’s proposing will happen.

Can you tell that I’m just a bit discouraged now? Anyone that wants to make a snarky joke, I invite them to go look at the swing state polls and their track over the last month. Our only hope for victory is in the debates. She MUST have a strong showing–that really resonates with people–in the debates, or it’s game over. That is, game for the whole fucking nation if we give the Republicans complete control of our government–with Trump at the helm.

There are those who want Johnson on the main stage. The # is 15% and he won’t get it (Ohio is just one state out of fifty), but there should be a 50 state audit in play before the 15th (or it should be)…

Its Hillary that he’s against. It’s that ‘shape shifter’ that he’s against. It’s that ‘witch’ that he’s against. Plus it doesn’t help that the NY media (aside from a few outlets) are possibly Trump fans.

Here’s a really critical thing people need to understand when they look at presidential polls–almost all of the variance from poll to poll is the result of the pollster’s guesses about the demographic composition of the electorate.

You can take that as comforting or you can take it as a reason for fear, but it is close enough to absolute truth to be going on with for statistical purposes.
