That is what I thought, but the Pew numbers indicate she isn’t getting a “vast majority” of them. A lot are going to Johnson and others are going to Stein.
It should tighten a bit nationally but so far that doesn’t seem to have any reflection in state by state polling. But I don’t think a grapefruit (name Bernie) would be ANYWHERE near the EV lead she has on him.
Also I believe that we are at this point in the race WITHOUT any of the significant Hillary campaign ammo against Trump. I think this is all self inflicted. I expect at some point in Sep/Oct the real attacks will start. And there is so much stuff out there.
Then maybe she isn’t very good at reaching outside her comfort zone? All I know is more young people than should consider her part of the problem and not part of the solution.
Yea I think Obama just gave the Republicans way too much credit for doing what’s right for the country early on, they have continued that, and need to have their ass kicked not only by the voters, but the democrats that the voters put in their place.
Third and fourth party candidates tend to peak around Labor Day—then smart voters realize what’s at stake and pick one of the two electable candidates.
Stein is only going to be on the ballot in about 20 states, for fuck’s sake!
Johnson is a sick joke, and Stein is sicker.
No, they won’t, at least not without turning the Republican party back into the progressive party, in which case I will join with them as well.
Sierra Foothills and other rural areas in California? Rednecks yep.
Five Thirty Eight has an interesting article analyzing the latest polling of young voters. Bottom line Hillary is losing a lot more young voters than she should.
I do agree that third party candidates do tend to fade, and Johnson and Stein are sick jokes.
I am not interested in just winning. I want to do real damage to Congressional Republicans. I want to end the notion that just saying NO is good politics. In short I want Hillary to be successful in getting her proposals through and I also want to build the party for the future.
National polls are meaningless—we elect the president state by state.
And Hillary leads in every poll for every swing state.
All three of the best polling predictors—Sam Wang, Nate Silver, and Larry Sabato—have Hillary getting north of 325 electoral votes, and the Safe Democratic and probable Democratic states already give Hillary more than 270 electoral votes.
Shift all you want Trump you are going down the tubes
thunderclap, don’t be rude.
Otherwise, I’ll have to call you a li - I mean, I’ll just have to point out that you are frequently factually challenged.

Any young voter who votes for a 3rd party was never with bernie
Nice try—but as usual you fail utterly.
O I hope so! I love Jennifer Granholm to pieces!!!
She’s a good bet to be the new DNC chair.
If you’d paid any attention to the posts, you’d know that I was referring to a speculative map that showed what she’d win if she were up 16 pts. I never said, or even suggested, that she wasn’t going to win the election.
But again, a grapefruit could win the election against Trump. I know I’d vote for a Florida White, or even a Texas Red, over Trump. Surely you would too, TN? Can I get your pledge right now?
I don’t know. Some are idealistic but naïve and may vote for Stein out of naïveté. As they see more of politics they’ll realize that it’s a calculation, not a purity test.
Or, maybe it’s that they’ve been so poisoned against her they’re unable to see passed it. If someone you admire greatly and all of your peers spent an entire year telling you someone is evil, a murderer, a thief, liar, etc., it’s going to be really hard for you to ever have good feelings about that person, to actually support them. At that point, you’ve been conditioned to hate them and distrust every attempt they make to reach out to you. That’s the predicament Clinton’s in. They’ve been repeatedly told she’s a liar, so they don’t believe anything she says no matter how factual it is. How does one overcome that other than to keep trying?
She can if we give her a progressive majority in the House and a filibuster-proof majority in the Senate. Otherwise, she’ll be as hamstrung as Obama was after the ®s took back some seats in the Senate.
This is great and all, but Hillaryland really needs to pivot from talking about Trump to talking to his base about how the Republican party has fucked them. This is a very weird moment in American politics. Everything is in play. Bring some of those white blue collars into the coalition (without, for once, selling out the communities of color that were there in the first place). Cut off their orderly retreat and annihilate them downballot. Tie Trump to the GOP and let them sink together into oblivion.
