I really not sure what are they trying to accomplish by pissing off the judge. Judges do influence the outcome of trials, and they don’t really like guys that make their work unnecessary tedious.

Let me tell you 'bout the Bundys. They would have been fine with a Confederacy of secessionist states where nonwhites would not have voting rights and slavery was still legal. Then they could live off the dole of free hard labor donated to them by African-Confederates.

My impression is that they feel trapped in a corner of their own making, and absent any viable way out, they bluster and bluff, trying to accomplish with their self-perceived brawn what they can’t accomplish with rational thought and argument.
I suspect they’re about to do a reasonable impression of a bug trying to stand his ground in the middle of the Indianapolis 500.
I doubt that it will turn out well for them, except insofar as the mercy of the court comes into play.

David, this family was raised absent rational thinking. The younger Bundys know no other path. It extends to more than politics. It affects their ranching “expertise”. Just look at what they’ve done to the land around and in their ranch and the condition of their cattle and you’ll see what I mean.
