Discussion: Netanyahu To The White House: Don't Second Guess Me Again On Hamas

Discussion for article #225871

America to Netanyahu – Then stop accepting our weapons and support.

Why is it that it’s OK for the GOP to attack the President of the United States with impunity, but it’s not OK for any American to say anything even remotely negative about Israel?

Israel is out of control. Bombing schools and hospitals? They are as bad as Hamas as far as I’m concerned.

If you want to know Israel’s end game just read this op ed:

Netanyahu wants to destroy Gaza utterly, and has engineered events in such a way that he can appear, at least to those willing to look not too carefully at the facts on the ground, as just waging a defensive war.

Did he say this before or after the latest $220 million check for Iron Dome was cashed?

Hey, didya hear the news??

Netanyahu (Bibi) is gonna file a complaint with the UN over Hamas’ treatment of the soldier they captured.

Bibi is saying conditions in Gaza are so bad that keeping someone there as a Prisoner of War is a violation of the Geneva Convention!

[Yes, it is a joke, sort of]

I find it interesting that the article assumes it was the Gazans who violated the truce. They claim otherwise. Also, the abduction appears to have taken place INSIDE Gaza, which makes me question why Israel was undertaking military activities (tunnel demolition) during the truce. When Kerry announced the ceasefire, he said Israel would be free to continue demolishing tunnels on the Israel side, as I understood it.

Finally, the reaction of the IDF to the abduction, by wholesale shelling of the area in an unrestrained fashion, attempting to kill their own soldier, pretty much confirms the existence, and the extreme extent of the Netanyahu’s Hannibal Doctrine (kill Israeli soldiers rather than let them be captured).

Barbaric. Netanyahu wants to wage war without political impediments, and will kill his own soldiers for convenience sake.

Quite a leader you have there, Israel. And I thought Dubya was bad!

So, Mr Obama, we do as we are told to by Netanyahu? This murderer this monster of the genocide tells you what to do, Mr Obama!!!

This is OUR money, OUR weapons, we need to stop supporting the Israeli blood lust and slaughter of Palestinians - NOT be taking orders from this monster Netanyahu!!! One soldier versus 1000s of dead innocent Palestinians, blown up babies and children, and 10000s of innocent injured Palestinians. And, you, Mr President stand up and say we are supposed to give any concern for 1 soldier! One soldier, Israelis, is worth millions of Palestinians in Gaza being bombed to hell! Really, Mr President? Really?

If he’s issuing demands that we butt out, he can do what he wants without our money, weapons, and us blocking any UN resolutions critical of Israel. We don’t seem to be getting much from our “ally” for all that we’re investing here.

Bibi is still mad he’s not being given three cheers and many more billions of US dollars by his pal “President Romney”.

I say we butt out of this intractable mess. America has no vital role in perfecting Zionism. Sixty years later and the killing on both sides continues. Let’s go back to allowing the determined killers to finish each other off, and embrace the victor as our good ally. It couldn’t be worse than what has happened over the past six decades.

So this was one of the reasons the President was responding in his news conference yesterday ?

“The Obama administration on Friday condemned “outrageous” violations of an internationally brokered Gaza cease-fire by Palestinian militants and called the apparent abduction of an Israeli soldier a “barbaric” action.”

Barbaric ? So the photos coming out of Gaza and the hundreds of men, women ,children and the elderly maimed and despair riddled expressions on the faces of many, many others is called what ?

The arrogance of Netanyahu is pretty astounding. Remember a few years ago when he came to the United States, scolded the President of the United States, then made a speech before Congress insisting that we increase the amount of aid we give him? We give him billions of dollars and, in return, he has nothing but contempt and disrespect for us.

Israel may still be an ally of the the United States, but Netanyahu is no friend to this country.

Isreal has institutionalized their own brand of barbarism towards the Paeltinians. Netanyahu is their dear leader in whose name any atrocities vs the PALS are sanctioned.

The ironic nature of Jews conducting aggressive military operations against a small, barely armed populace in a tightly restricted geographical area is inescapeable. Does Warsaw ring a bell ?

And these are the comments on a progressive blog founded by a Jew living in NYC. What is the support for Israel like in the rest of the progressive blogosphere?

Israel might be able to survive without US support but they would be very foolish to try. Without bipartisan support in US, Israel’s lifeline is under threat.

Netanyahu loses no opportunity to attack Democrats and the Democratic party. Perhaps he feels safe doing that because he is a Jim Crow George Wallace type politician who thinks in purely racist terms and assumes that since he is a racist then every other member of the group he represents will support him unconditionally and unquestioningly.

It does not work that way. Having the Prime Minister attack the Democratic party as anti-semitic is not going to whip Progressive US Jews into the hands of the Republican party. Quite the reverse.

Or, what, BIbi? You would be nothing without the U.S.

Nothing.

He addressed the killings of the children at the press conference as well - in fact he was very pointed in his condemnation of the civilians being in the crossfire of this war.

You should watch the entire press conference if you did not see it.

Of course that is the end game. But you miss the fact that the JPost piece is adopting the demands of Hamas.

Hamas stands for the repudiation of any two-state solution and they crank up the violence to disrupt every attempt to impose one. Their objective in the current war on Gaza is to lift the blockade.

Annexing the Gaza strip and the West bank means accepting the end of the two state proposal. Since the murder of Rabin by the settlers that proposal has been nothing more than a fig leaf allowing US Jews to put all the blame for the current situation on the Palestinians.

The only difference in the proposals of the fascist Israeli right and Hamas is what to do with the Palestinians. Members of Netanyahu’s party regularly talk about genocide without any rebuke which is just what members of Hitler’s party used to do. Others talk about ‘transfer’. But the practical fact is that if it happened, the Palestinians would get citizenship sooner or later.

The racist formulation ‘the Jewish state’ has to be abandoned and ‘the Jewish and Palestinian state’ used in its place. Israel has never been a Jews-only state and to call for it to become one is racist.

I did see the conference and there were several instances where he was making some contradictory statements ,IMO.

Who controls our government? Who controls our media? Who controls our political process? How does this happen? Israel spits in our face and we say ‘thank you may I have another’.
