Discussion: Netanyahu Heads To U.S. For Speech To Congress

Discussion for article #233804

This speech had better not be televised anywhere else than CSPAN.

No way is Fox going to pass it up.

“…an emerging deal on Iran…”

Why have Republicans abandoned Ronald Reagan and George Bush?

Make the deal with Iran.

Politically self-serving, diplomatic protocol breaking, war-mongers not welcome! Least of all, those who stumped so hard for and were so clearly wrong about the last US-middle east military intervention in Iraq! Let the progress on the diplomatic track continue.

In 2011 bibi made a speech in front of Congress and used clips in his 23% race in 2013…This is a partisan speech now when it has never been…Even the Israeli election commission is censoring his speech on the 3rd. He has been lying to America and the world for 2 decades about Iran.

PEACE is not good for Ammunition and war toy sales.!

call your reps and senators to protest this sham…

Netanyahu needs to stay home and tend to his re-election efforts!

Actually, maybe America might benefit from seeing what an unvarnished clown our Republican buddies prefer to the elected President of the United States. Let them keep digging.

I wonder if Bebe is going to offer us some helpful suggestions on what to do about ISIS. Are Israeli boots on the ground forthcoming in Syria?

This is why America is so exceptional!

After all the fighting and bad blood between the right and left in the past twenty years, we can all get together and put it behind us to celebrate the orderly transfer of power in Washington.

It’s time for Netanyahu to move out of our basement and stand on his own two feet. If he’s going to start fights, he needs to finish them on his own.

The world should never again be subject to neoconservative illogic and Israel is a good place to thwart their attempt to bring endless war to humanity. The MIC has already practically destroyed the planet and just like a republicant congress, it is scorched earth. Can these self-righteous, power hungry, profligate, hateful, perfidious, dictatorial, alarmed, resentful destroyers be stopped? The guys with the guns are mostly never good.

Please, the last thing we need is martyr Bibi. But calling our reps/senators and expressing outrage and disgust at their willingness to be a political prop for for his campaign is still important. And do remind them of how disastrously wrong he was about Iraq, both about how removing Saddam would transform the Middle East (in a good way!) and about his nuclear program (he has one!). And make sure they know he’s been caught misrepresenting Israel’s own intel about Iran’s program (@docb has the video; here’s the article):

And you might mention that if the Dems really supported Israel, they’d shun this dangerous demagogue: more and more former Israeli ambassadors, defense officials and intelligence heads have come out against Netanyahu’s stunt, and Netanyahu himself. Here’s one:

Ex-Mossad chief Meir Dagan to headline anti-Netanyahu rally

Dagan, who called Netanyahu’s policies ‘destructive to the future and security of Israel,’ will speak at rally demanding regime change at Tel Aviv’s Rabin Square.

Rabin Square – that’s the place named for the Israeli leader assassinated by a right-wing Israeli in the poisonous political atmosphere Netanyahu had no small part in fomenting.

Unfortunately, the Isrraeli election commission’s 5-minute delay in televising his speech will find nothing overtly political to censor (there’ll be no sloganeering, just “statesman Bibi” trying to save the world, and the lack of any censoring will be used to his advantage – as will clips from the speech in his ads). But fercrissake, this is a guy who lost the last election and only became PM because the winner couldn’t form a government, who’s detested by many if not most of his countrymen, who combines all the most prominent traits of Cheney and Nixon; yet the Dems are apparently so intimidated by the loudest right-wing Jews in this country that they can’t bring themselves to do what they obviously should and boycott this speech? They need to start hearing from the rest of us.

From one tribe member to another, you may enjoy this. I know I did…

Jeremy Bird, the architect of the grass-roots and online organizing efforts that powered President Obama’s presidential campaigns from Chicago, is advising a similar operation in Tel Aviv. But this time it is focused on ousting Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of Israel.

Saying you’re a Democrat doesn’t give you a pass to say what you did, namely wishing death and destruction in a plane crash, and the president is a chicken, You need to explain to the rest of the Democrats here who probably don’t have a clue to what you’re talking about.

Yes, I saw that, thanks; go, Jeremy! The GOP’s trying to make that a “see? both sides play politics!” as if somebody who never even worked in the White House, working on a campaign like political operatives from both parties always do, is comparable to two countries’ government officials concocting a partisan attack on an administration’s foreign policy right before election day in one of their countries. Yeah, just like.

And on your replly to @Barblzz: Geez, I was so taken aback by the plane-crash wish that I didn’t even notice the third point. How the fk is Obama chicken on this? It’s most of his fellow Dems who deserve that scorn; he’s done everything right. (And apparently Iran just made a surprise concession in the talks; I don’t imagine they’ll actually be able to announce an agreement before Bibi takes the podium on Tuesday, but it’d be a beautiful thing…)

The irony of our conservative Congress inviting a foreign head-of-state to give his “expertise” on the security of his nation to an assembled body that has just refused to fund the security agencies of its own nation, is just too priceless to contemplate.
