Ludlum’s lawyers on Friday refused to confirm news reports that he and Dowless are cousins.
Lordy I hope this doesn’t tear apart this close knit community, little did we know how close knit.
“Ludlum’s lawyers on Friday refused to confirm news reports that he and Dowless are cousins.” This is starting to sound like a real hillbilly Peyton Place and they aren’t even in the mountains.
At least three. I bet the numbers grow when the US House looks into this election fraud.
Who wants to live in North Carolina?
kidding
“I am not aware of anyone in Bladen County ever throwing ballots in the trash or stating that they have thrown absentee ballots or any type of ballot in the trash,” Ludlum said.
That misprision of a felony statute can be such a bitch. Yes, it is a felony in NC to destroy or alter a completed ballot from another voter.
Still better than Florida.
It’s no wonder Republicans are so obsessed with “voter fraud.” It’s a standard election technique with them, so they assume Democrats are just the same.
And Florida is better than Mississippi.
It’s not clear from the story, but I think the claim is that these three allegedly forged absentee ballot requests were submitted by the “black empowerment group supporting Democrats.” This was released by the R candidate’s lawyer and is his attempt to muddy the water on the R guy’s fraud — though his guy’s fraud was reportedly much more pervasive.
What it tells me is that the NC absentee ballot system in this district is seriously f’ed up and invites fraud.
I just re-read the story, and I don’t get that at all. Could you quote the text that makes you think this?
Sorry to interrupt, but is this a surprise?
Wait, why would Homeland Security be checking out the polling facilities of some rural county in North Carolina?
I assume this was related to the federal assistance that was offered to states to secure elections systems after the suspected foreign interference in the 2016 elections.
That may be my favorite paragraph in this story.
Again, I’m not at all sure, but three things contributed to my surmise. (1) The lawyer for Harris, the R candidate, is the one who released the affidavit to the press. He/she wouldn’t do that if it was more evidence against his client. (2) The story mentions the black empowerment Dem group collected absentee ballot requests, which is the first time I’ve seen them mentioned. And (3) the affidavit seems to focus on rebutting claims by the county Dem party chairman.
I’m extremely suspicious of attempts to turn this into a bothsiderism issue, where 3 ambiguously described “forged” absentee ballot requests are equated with Dowless’ alleged 3000 altered or discarded ballots. If those 3 “forged” ballot requests (which did not result in any vote) were unambigiously sourceable to a Democratic group, don’t you think Harris’ attorney would be hammering that point?
This feels like an attempt to blow smoke and spin bothsiderism so what can you do guess we’ll just have to go with the election results as they stand.
“Ludlum’s lawyers on Friday refused to confirm news reports that he and Dowless are cousins.”
That is an understated masterpiece in putting the cap on a story. Well played.
